Anyone else in the same boat?

I'm 24, have PCOS, have been married nearly 5 years, and have been trying since we got engaged. One possible miscarriage/chemical pregnancy, many false positive tests later, and we are still empty handed, and my RE won't help me because of my inability to lose weight. They not only won't help me get pregnant, they won't help me to lose the weight...

I'm ready to give up, and say to hell with it all, and be a miserable person for the rest of my life.

Is it possible for you to find another doctor? Everyone (who knows about PCOS) knows that PCOS can hinder the ability to lose weight, a good doctor should help you.

May I ask what methods you have used to lose weight?

I'm seeing the only RE within a reasonable driving distance of me, and she is the most highly recommended according to nearly everyone I have spoken to. She has patients who drive nearly 6 hours to see her. She basically thinks I am lazy, because we all know fat people are lazy right?

I've done low carb diets, weight watchers, calorie counting, extreme exercise, and nothing works. I am in excellent physical health, except for being overweight.

That sucks. You would presume she would know the connection to weight and PCOS then.

I hate the stigma people get with weight. Some of the most energetic people I know are over weight and the laziest seem to be the really skinny ones (lucky people).

Do you have a family practitioner that can check for insulin resistance problems? A lot of girls have this with PCOS and when it's treated can lose weight and fall pregnant easier.

Don't know what else to suggest really. I can tell you that I have lost over 30lbs this year with My Fitness Pal (may have been more if I had stuck to it) and I've gone back to it. It's really helped me and a lot of other ladies on this site to lose weight. Problem is, you've already said calorie counting hasn't worked.

Sorry I can't offer more helpful advice.

I'm on Metformin, just because I pushed for it, and it hasn't done anything. I haven't had a natural period in years. I don't know that I have ovulated in the last 3 years at all. I failed 5 rounds of Clomid, and my doctor won't go past that until I am thin.

You and I are in the same age and boat, please don't give up!

No RE in my city would help me conceive because of my weight. I'm the typical fluffy Cyster who can't lose for the life of her and if she does it comes all back. I actually had a fertility doctor in June 2012 tell me I'm being selfish by not going through with gastric bypass surgery. So you know what I did? I found a new doctor!

You have to be your own advocate especially when you have PCOS because it's completely misunderstood by the medical community. Everyone is on a fat is bad campaign and they refuse to acknowledge this syndrome that causes morbid obesity in half of it's sufferers.

If one doctor won't help you conceive find another! If that one won't help find another! I'm on my 3rd RE and if I hadn't moved on I wouldn't be starting Femara after all this time through an RE who's 2 hours away from where I live.

Even if you have to travel find a new doctor. You can and will conceive.

Still haven't gotten anywhere. No RE within my network will accept me. I'm over it. I just easing to give up, but i keep coming back to it. Ugh.

Charlei I am also with you, just passed 7 years ttc#1, I understand your pain. I have PCOS, and also have a hell of a time losing weight. Anyone else would be skinny if they have done everything i have done, and still no weight loss!! Its frustrating!

Do you ovulate regularly? Have you tried any fertility meds? I didnt have any luck with clomid but femara works good for me. I would switch doctors (maybe try a obgyn that will prescribe fertility meds) until you find one willing to work with you.

I never ovulate, and have failed Clomid. I've been through three OB/Gun and an RE. I have given up on doctors.

Charlei, we are around the same age and have been trying about the same amount of time too. I have PCOS as well and it's been incredibly difficult to lose weight, especially with the depression that comes from the inability to have a child. A couple years ago at work a group of us girls had a "biggest loser" competition, we all took it very seriously and worked out every day at the gym, in the end they had all lost an incredible amount of weight, and I had maybe lost 1 or 2 pounds. My current dr didn't want to work with me due to my weight either but after a year of trying to lose weight he gave in, but he refuses to give me a referal to the only RE that's within a few hours driving because he says they won't treat me due to my weight (although my friend who is 150 pounds more overweight than I am now has a 5 month old IVF conceived baby using the same RE that they won't give me the referal to...). A very frustrating jounrey indeed

I get so frustrated with my REs lack of interest and willingness to help me.
