Katie has started refusing almost all milk, monday she had 6oz, yesterday was 5oz and so far today shes had 5oz. Shes eatin plenty of food to make up for it and has a very good diet. Iv tried offerin milk n not food but she just screams at me :( she wont drink milk at bedtime, 1st thing in the morning etc she just refuses. If im honest she has slept better without havin the milk though. Should i worry or just go with it? Xx

I think it's a really common thing to happen when solids are introduced. My friend found her lo wouldn't let an oz pass his lips once he was eating meals and her HV advised her to get in his milk allowance through other things. Have you spoken to your HV?

I found this -

Weaned and weaning babies should have about a pint (or more) of milk a day to make sure they are getting all the nutrients they need. This can be as formula or breast milk, or the baby can take the milk equivalent in baby cereal or baby food made up with formula or breast milk, milk puddings, custard, milk-based sauces, cheese and cottage cheese, or yogurt and fromage frais, especially if she isn’t too keen on drinking milk.

Rough equivalents to 200 ml of milk (about seven oz):

40 g cheese
200 g yoghurt
a cup of custard.

Xxx

i used 3oz in porridge for breakfast and then another 3oz in porridge for supper and she has had 2 yoghurts today :D plus the 6oz she actually drank im guessin she should she be ok.

its kind of strange not having to make bottles for her though x

My LO dropped all bottles at about 9months, but she has plently of solids, fluids and dairy.
Her dietician said this is fine so long as she is getting the dairy from other sources! xxx

Ohhh im gunna be shot down now. Madi stopped drinking milk at 10 months. I gave her cows milk, which she would drink happily... Just a suggestion!?

shoot me too lol, i tried it this morning in her cup and she wasnt interested really. i just tried a little to wash her porridge down but she prefers water xx

Why are you guys suggesting cow's milk? I've read over and over again that prior to 1 year old, LO's digestive system can't handle it.

she wouldnt drink cows milk either so i just gave up the battle and stopped offering milk at all. shes been fine since, still sleeping through, wet and dirty nappies etc not loosing weight. she has half a cup of cows milk with her porridge and then normally a cheese sandwhich and yoghurt and then she snacks on a babybell so she still get dairy. xx

wow this is very interesting.
i figured this never happened.
james has dramatically decreased his BF or EBM feeds since starting solids he takes no more than 25 ounces a day, a normal day is 16-20 (whereas 1 month ago he was taking about 45-50)

so, it's okay if they wean early?
just give them plenty of dairy in other areas.
i've stocked my freezer full of EBM with plans of quitting BFing and Pumping when he is 9.5/10 months old.
