need a sanity check...

ok... madam scarlett is now 6 weeks old and wont sleep in the day unless in car seat n out or laid on somebody... (usual situation i know u all been there) within 5 mins of bein laid down she wakes up screaming. shes not in pain, hungry, thirsty been winded etc, when she wakes up shes still very tired and spends the next few hours either crying thru tiredness or trying to get back to sleep between cries. she will not go in a chair, or go on a mat , she will not self soothe and there is no way on this earth i am giving her a plastic germ factory. sooo most afternoons are spent either pinned to a settee with her on either me or dh or shes screaming. atm shes been put down asleep 4 times since 5pm for her to wake within minutes then fall asleep on us within a minute ... then returned to basket a few mins later... and pattern repeated... can anybody shed any ideas onto a resolution? shes usually swaddled when asleep... wont stay asleep unless swaddled. on a night she's fine tho... goes down in it fine and stays asleep... so whats the difference?

well at least she has day and night figured out! It'll get better, you know that. If you think a dummy would help tho I really don't think it'd hurt. I was dead set against giving Ally one but I think it's saved my sanity!

Ada does the same thing....only its at night that I have to put her down repeatedly--until she actually stays asleep. She won't take a pacifier--but likes to pacify on my boobs--which is another situation to be solved all in itself. So would be good to see what answers you get.

was given a vibrating musical chair last night by a friend...... she liked it this morning,... stayed asleep for nearly an hour in it but she wont stay asleep in it now even on the rock setting. grrrrrr.. there was also her big noisy brother who repeatedly wakes her up when on the same level in the house as her lurking about so dunno if that had anything to do with it... will find out when he bogs off to bed in 4 hours time.
