I started Clomid unmonitored last month. 100mg 5-9. That was a roller coaster of side effects the entire month. Bad enough I thought I was pregnant. Of course it wasn't that easy.
I got AF early on the 20th. I took the Clomid 100mg this time from day 3-7. This time I got a little bit of hot flashes (although it is hard to tell, I'm in Florida and some days are hotter and this is something that normally happens to me), but everything else seemed to go fine. No breast pain, very little ovary twinges and pains, etc. Up until CD11 when I started using an OPK (first month trying this). It came up positive. Both lines equally dark. I also started spotting. Just with wiping. It was a bit brown at first, then was a little pink. Also the brown was in some EWCM. CD12 I did not test, but still had the spotting. CM was watery. Nipples slightly tender. CD13 I tested and the lines are still just as dark and still having spotting. CM was watery. CD14 which is today I still have the spotting, EWCM again and a positive OPK.
For the past couple of days there has been a little cramping in my right ovary, although I've had this when sitting in the car before even when I wasn't TTC so I'm guessing maybe just the way I am sitting.
I'm VERY confused as to what is going on. The doctor does not want to help because he feels I am "too old" to even considering doing something so stupid. There is not an RE for hours from here and no other choice of doctors either. I'm pretty much on my own to figure this out.
I have had children before, although it took me quite a while. I did start Clomid once before when I was much younger, however I stopped after the nasty mood that it put me in.
Oh, and as far as BD, there has been quite a few sessions so if I did ovulate and it's going to catch, then we're good in that department. DH has a very good sperm count and motility (and is younger than me, so this is all me and my old lower egg reserve).
I apologize for the length of this, but my questions are...Why is the OPK still showing just as positive (and I'm not sure if it would have been before CD10) and if this is ovulation bleeding, why is it lasting for 4 days? It's mainly on the TP.
Thank you for anyone that could shed some light on my confused body.

Hi,

What kind of tests are you using? I read that some of the old fashion dipstick tests are really prone to false positive result. As for the bleeding I wish I could help but I don't know. This is only my first experience clomid myself. Hang in there. I wish some doctors would be more supportive.

Thank you. The spotting has actually stopped and now I'm having some OV pains and breast discomfort. I noticed that my cervix is now soft and open although it's only midway, which mine is never very high. CM is cloudy. I don't know what to think. I have a feeling I'm just gearing up now for the side effects of the Clomid kicking in during the TWW. At least this time I didn't have the whole cycle of pains and such like last time.
I'm using the CVS brand with the lines. I really wish I would have started earlier in the cycle or used them before so that I could have some kind of baseline. I only ever tried one once in my life and it was a bit confusing for me. If I remember there were a bunch of lines that you had to read.
Sometimes I just feel like giving up on all of this, but I know this is my last shot before the end of my child bearing years. I just hate that it has to be so hard for so many of us and there are those that try so hard not to get pregnant who can at the drop of a hat.
Good luck to you on your journey! From what I have read, the Clomid for most isn't that bad. That's why I was so confused last month because I had side effects all the way through.
I still have 4 more cycles to try. That's if DH doesn't take the job on the road, then I guess it's just time to throw the towel in anyway.

Losingfaith, sorry it's not all going smoothly for you. I can't comment at all on the clomid but I can say I din't always find the OPK's particularly useful as they were sometimes showing one thing when my body feeling something else. I found them most useful along side base line temperature checking - because I could at least then see my temp pick up over the week and drop the morning that my cycle would start, this with the OPK gave me a much better idea of what was happening. Good luck to you.

Hi there,

Just a thought have you had any scans to check whether the clomid is working? I'm in the UK so I guess its a little different but we have scans to check the follicles are growing.

Best of luck xx

Apparently Clomid can cause false positive opks if you take it too soon after using Clomid. I also use Clomid cd5-9 and it has never happened to me but I have read of other ladies it has happened too. Don't want to get your hopes up but Alternatively, you could maybe already be pregnant and the opk is positive cause of the hsg in your system? Don't read too much into what symptoms you get from Clomid every month...I have had it for 4 cycles so far and every month I get different symptoms.

Good luck!

Hot flashes are normal on clomid, Ovulating early is also common , ovulation spotting is ok just means your extra fertile or releasing multiple eggs. Keep BDing until the Ewcm changes to creamy and I say you got a good chance.
