My sisters and my mother feel the need to give me nothing but negativity regarding my partner and I ttc.

They all feel the need to remind me EVERY TIME I SEE THEM that we "are" (because they know this for a fact apparently...) going to have trouble conceiving.

I am a recovering Anorexic. I am at a healthy weight now and have been for three years, I have worked very hard to gain muscle and strength over the past year by yoga, and am healthier than I have ever been!

During the worst years of my eating disorder, my periods stopped and the doctors told me if I didn't start gaining weight there was a risk of not being able to have children in the future.
My periods are now regular again and have been for 8/9 years!!

I understand they are probably trying to prepare me, but does it really need to be negative ALL OF THE TIME!?

I guess I just needed a rant, as had to listen to it again yesterday.
Thanks for reading.
Sending baby dust and positive vibes to you all <3

Hi mitziepawz,

Sorry to hear your family being negative about your past anorexia. They should know that you are aware of the facts and should be offering their ears to listen not their opinions. I hope they don't feel the need to keep repeating these negative comments, these forums are great to get advice from or just the need to vent:)

I have a similar history and something that made me feel better was the studies (I don't have links but they're easy enough to find online) showing that women who are weight-restored have the same conception rates as women who have no history of anorexia. Maybe take those studies to your family? Or better yet stop talking to them about it all together and if they bring it up tell them you're not interested in discussing it any further. I haven't told anyone (family or friends) that we're TTC and the lack of pressure is really nice.

Just dropping over, I had eating disorders for years 15years. And I all I got before ttc you'll never get pregnant, while ttc I got your to thin you'll never conceive, while pregnant how do you feel about putting on weight. After being pregnant you lost weight to quick. Eating disorders suck and they put every1 on an knifes edge it's literally a baby pink elephant in the room. I'm forever in a day going to be known as the anorexic one. Unfortunately the month before I got pregnant I went back in a bad way but the second I found out I was pregnant, I stopped I altered my diet and lifestyle he was a healthy 8'1 I'm only 5'1. Nod it off their never going to let it go I've been through two and a half years of it I seriously felt like telling them to all p*ss off and mind their own business.
