Would love to hear anyones positive experiences, words of wisdom or advice. I am so nervous about it, its keeping me awake at night.:cry:

I'm not going to lie, before the surgery I was *pooing bricks. Mine was an emergency... Well wasn't uber urgent but had to be done within a couple of hours if being told. However, it wasn't actually that bad. And once you hear your little baby cry, all your worries dissapear!! Then after you are so wrapped up in mummyhood you don't think about it.

Honestly, you will be fine!!

I tell you what though, I was more worried about having the spinal than the actual op. That wasn't bad at all! Yes it pinched but was nothing really.

I was upset that I had to have a section as it was completely opposite to what I had planned (natural water birth)... But my little girl is lying here infront of me, happy and healthy. It was all worth it!! X

Mine was an emcs too and if I'm honest with you, the thought of needing a section freaked me out too. I wasn't expecting to have one and then I had a little panic when I went down to have the op. honestly, the staff were wonderful and kept me calm. I can't really comment on the spinal as I had mine done whilst I was having contractions so it didn't hurt at all!

The worst part I found was the stitching up after as it seemed to take forever, but then my baby was brought over and I could see her whilst oh was holding her. Completely took my mind off things.

My recovery has been pretty good, I'm 7 months pp now and don't have any issues really. I do get some discomfort at night in my back though which I never had before lo. The healing process is difficult but just make sure that you take it easy and use it as an excuse to just sit with baby and ask others for help to do things. I did things little and often and I really think this helped the healing.

Good luck, you'll be fine I promise. Xx

I had a planned section as Flynn was breech. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't have a natural birth, but as the day came closer & I grew bigger & more uncomfortable, I was actually happy to have a set end date in sight!

I was really scared in the lead up, but it really wasn't bad at all. The spinal hurt a little, nothing unbarable though. Onc I saw & heard Flynn I was not even thinking about the section anymore.

The first few days were a little rough, but if you take your pain relief when it is given to you, you will be fine. Def make sure you take all pain meds offered! Also make sure that you try to get out of bed & move around as soon as you are allowed (usually when the catheter is taken out), it will really help with your recovery. I had help getting out of bed the first time (he morning after the op), but after that I was fine getting up & moving around slowly by myself. I was discharged from hospital on the third day & was fine once back home, no problems getting up & down the stairs at all or getting up to feed Flynn at night (although I did need a bit of help from hubby to get up off the bed as it was quite low).

Feel free to pm me if you have any questions, I was worried like you were & positive stories really helped ease my worry :)

I had an EMCS and it wasn't a fun experience. It was actually quite traumatizing because I wasn't sure exactly what was going on and it was pretty scary. Having a planned CS and an EMCS - I've heard are completely two different things though. Good luck!

I wont lie the recovery sucks but you survive.

The actual procedure is over before you know it. You will be fine hun x

I had a semi-emcs. I didn't feel overwhelmed as I knew I was having a cs due to complications with my uterus and baby being breech from very early on.
I went into hospital at 10pm after having pains all day the told me I was 8cm and I needed to go down to theatre.
It was all very calm and I felt totally at ease. Obviously I was worried for my baby but I never really thought of myself at all.
It's all over before you know it and while they are stitching you back up your too preoccupied with your baby.
I only took difene for 3 days and once I left hospital I took no painkillers at all. Didn't need them. I had a text book recovery which I know I was very lucky to have.
7 months on my scar is barely visible and is super neat. They did a great job.

Good luck with your section and remember for all the horrible stories you hear there are positive ones too!
I hope it goes as smoothly as mine did!
xx
