My little girl was the same from birth, drinking 150ml's/5oz every two hours, and then from about 2 months old she wanted 210ml/7oz every two hours, which meant that I was feeding her 9/10 times a day. She has a mix of powder formula and cartons. We switched to hungry baby milk when she was about 3 months old.. and that did lengthen the amount of time between each bottle but she still drank loads (9/10 x7oz a day). She continued like this until we started weaning and only just now that weaning has been established at 7 months old, had she dropped some of her feeds. She now has five 7oz/210 ml bottles per day.

You didn't saw how old your LO is? In my experience though, some babies are just hungrier than others and they won;t drink it if they don't need it/arent hungry. Perhaps consider switching to Hungry Baby milk if he continues to never seem full??? It may help a little, but I don't think it will change the fact that he is a super hungry baby. He just needs lots more milk than some other babies x

thanks hun..hes 9 weeks old..hes always been hungry so i think its like you say hes just hungrier than some babies..im really considering moving him to hungry baby the HV said its not really reccomended but i rang aptimal helpline and they said it can be used from birth

hey our lo's are around the same age-ish, have you tried giving him more at each feed, it might give you more of a gap inbetween. since 6wks Chloe has 6 6oz bottles in 24hrs, she takes them every 3hours during the day and has an 7-8hr gap at night. i was worried she was taking too much as the health visitor seemed yo think all babies eat the same :saywhat: i just did what was best for her, if she doesnt want it she wont take it. do whatever you think is best :hugs:

thanks hun...hell only take 120 ml at any time..ive tried changing nappy when he stops and gets his wind up to encourage him to take more but he wont
hes dead set in his ways lol.

I remember talking to my HV about the same thing and miine seemed fine about switching. Everyone has a different opinions and some HV's don't seem to think it's necessary to change. I think I would (personally) just wait a little while before you switch to hungry baby milk as it is thicker.... but it's really up to you. See how he gets on for another week or two and if you think he ready to switch to hungry baby then make the change. I know all that feeding is hard work though :hugs: I was constantly feeding my little girl, then bringing her wind up, then changing her bum... then it was time to make another bottle :haha: x

i am reluctant to switch i think im going to have to accpet hes a very hungry baby and thats that lol i mean some babies eat alot more than he does..

do you think its aptimal thats to thin

i dont really want to mess about with his formula because he has got reflux but i dont like to think hes starving iykwim
thanks for replying

My boy will be 7 weeks this Thursday and he is the same, has 120 mls every 2 hours, and inbetween he acts hungry, I did try hungry baby formula, I know they say not to but it does say from birth so I figure it cant really be a problem if it says it can be used from birth. I found it doesn't make much of a difference with him, he still feeds as much, but in the last week when I put him to bed at night he goes 4 or 5 hours, but thats just cos he is becoming a better sleeper.

I think some of us just have hungry babies, my boy is quite long and is bigger than most 6 week olds, infact at the postnatal group I went to last week he was the same size as the 10 week olds. He isn't chubby though, he's perfectly in proportion...but bigger than is average for his age, hence why he is so hungry.

I was really worries bout swapping to hungry baby but i just had too cuz wee boy was so so so hungry!!It was the best move for us and hes now much much happier than when he was constantly hungry!!My HV advised us to keep an eye on his poo cuz it can consitpate wee one!I just gave a little extra water!Good luck!x

Oh yeah I meant to mention this :D This is one of the reasons it is sometimes not advised to go onto hungry baby milk. Although I must say... didn't constipate my little girl at all :) x

Hiya

I have similar issues. My LO was 9lb 1/2 oz at birth and last week was 14lb 8oz at 6 weeks and 2 days. He has 6-7oz 5 times a day and then at night has probably 6-7oz in the night, he feeds twice still. My HV said I could try a few bottles of hungry baby formula at night from 8 weeks so will do that next week. Soon I will be needing to fill the bottles to the top or give him two bottles, but then I don't suppose he would take it all and would be sick. My LO gets agitated very quickly in between feeds - I think it goes through him quickly and he is hungry again soon.

Everyone tells me I will need to wean him early....not sure whether I will or not, guess I will take advice when the time comes...the reports on the tv though today seemed to suggest some babies do need weaning early if they are not being satisfied on the milk
x

Ps - I have found my LO is hungrier when he has the pre done cartons than when I make it up with the powder. Hubs thinks the milk in the cartons is thinner but I am not sure. We are using Hipp Organic.

as your lo has reflux and is on gaviscon its advised on the back of the gaviscon packet not to give with prethickened formula, this includes any hungry baby formula as far as my gp told me

FYI i found this https://www.infantfeeding.info/SpecialistFormulae.pdf
