So I am now in cycle 6 of TTC #1. Eat healthy veggies, fruits, chicken and salad mostly, exercise daily, take prenatals, coq10,omegas, bcomplex, and vitamin D, no smoking, 1 cup of coffee a week, and have consistently done every other day or more during a 2 week fertile period. And NOTHING! My husband has conceived twice with ex girlfriends, but I have never seen a BFP:( I turned 35 in March and waiting for my insurance to kick in in January. My question is ...has anyone never seen a BFP until they conceived their child. Does this seem like a long time? Am I being impatient?

Hi
how long have you been trying? Sorry I'm inexperienced here so when you say you're in your 6th cycle Im not sure. In your 6 month? Sorry i must sound so silly

Ah I see. I hope you don't have to wait long for your BFP. Id also like to see stories here from ltttc ladies who never got one but then eventually did. Where are you lovely ladies?? *smile

6 months of TTC wouldn't be considered to be LTTTC. I'm not sure if it's a year or 2 years. Most of the ladies I've seen this forum have been trying for over 2 years.

The general advice is if you're 35+ you should seek help after 6 months of trying. Have you had any tests yet?

we have had a recent job change and do not get insurance until january. tossing between paying out of pocket or waiting until january for tests. the reason for starting to worry was my age and we have hit the 6 month mark.

Hearing about insurance worries makes me glad for the NHS here in the UK. It's not perfect though. They were happy to do various tests but not fund ivf because I'm over 40.

If I were you I would get tested sooner. Just because your insurance starts in January doesn't mean all your tests will be done then as some tests have to be done at certain points in your cycle.

The blood test to confirm you're ovulating is done on day 21. If they recommend an HSG to check for blockages you have to wait until after your period to make absolutely sure you're not pregnant when they do the test.

I had a scan which showed polycystic ovaries which meant I had to have a hormone blood test. I had to wait until cycle day 3 to take that test.

I guess you'll have to discuss your options with your health provider.

I hope you get your BFP soon.

Do you chart? That is something you can do for free and can give clues as to whether there is an issue. Six months isn't a reason to panic just yet. Here in the uk it is considered normal to wait for a year although you are entitled to seek help after six months if you are over the age of 35. That doesn't mean you need help, you are just entitled to seek it.

I'm on my 38th cycle, no baby! :( But I just had my problem found and hopefully fixed in June so this is the 2nd cycle since. I am 3 days late for period testing tomorrow :D Have you bought opk's yet?

It took about 5 years before I saw a bfp and it ended in miscarriage.

Hello, its been over 4 years for dh and I. I have never had a bfp....and dh hasnt ever gotten anyone preggers before. I would, if possible, just at least get some labs drawn for both and also a sperm analysis. Even though your dh has children from previous, sometimes something could happen with hormone levels. My dh has had varicocel veins repaired which we suspect he had for a while, but I read about men not getting it till later. Also have you tracked your ovulation? If you could get it down to a few days window, that may help time bd.

I have used opks and have gotten 2 spikes a month since i did continue doing them throughout the month. Temping is difficult since I get up throughout the night. I do bd every other day form end of af until 10 days before. So I should be covering the fertile window. I just wish I had a crystal ball and knew if it would or would not happen. I do feel better that I am not the only one. Minties, did you do anything different when you finally conceived?
