I'm not sure about my Dr... this was my first prenatal appt, told her about the near fainting spells and she said - low bp, normal!!! she didn't even take my bp and I also clued in after I got home that she didn't weigh me ???? I feel that maybe with my age she should have a baseline for both weight and bp...am I wrong to think she dropped the ball a little?????? I dont know if I should keep her or look elsewhere...but she was on the ball with 10 week bloodwork, 12 week scan...hmmm...advice??

I don't know how they do it in Canada but I get my blood pressure and weight done at every appointment. Near fainting can be normal in pregnancy but they should still make sure that you are dealing with low blood pressure.

totally agree with Clar - everytime I go someone medical they take my blood pressure and weight - its almost like its a done deal - I do find that strange that she didn't take it, especially when you have been complaining of feeling faint - i have never had a cause to complain and they do it as a matter of course xxxxx

When I was pregnant with Ava they took my weight, urine and they did a vaginal sonogram every time. Good Luck :hugs:

The nurse always takes my BP and weight. I wonder if the nurse dropped the ball?

My BP goes lower when I am pregnant, too. When I get faint feeling, I start supplimenting with extra iron. It helps me. I figure our blood volume is increasing and if I'm feeling faint, I'm probably mildly anemic.

Hmmm, some doctors can be a little bit unsure. Like my one who kept insisting I go on birthcontrol even when I have no reason to go on it.

Perhaps next time you see her, suggest that she takes your blood pressure and weight. :)

I would give it one more try and see how you feel. I know it's frustrating, but even doctors can have an off day. I recently went though a similar experience with my doctor, but after the one weird appointment everything seems to be back on track.

If you feel very uncomfortable or the next appointment goes poorly, I would definitely consider making a change.

Good luck!! :hugs:

I agree... if it happens again, it's not gonna hurt to look into another doctor. Personally, I've felt very well taken care of at all of my appts... and if not, I would for sure be looking elsewhere... but even doctors have "off days" like Wind mentioned above.

Best of luck hun!!!

maybe she thought the nurse took care of that? But if there was no nurse, that's very strange and I'd think about going elswhere.

hmmmm i am with some of the other posters. the nurse always does the weight, urine, bp thing. personally i think all that is really important.... like you said - base lines are a good thing.

you CAN ask her next time you go in if nothing gets done.... "you know, i would feel a lot better if someone would take my bp at every appointment, just for my peace of mind"....

make up a history of pre -e.... that will get you noticed :D

thing to remember is - if you arent comfortable with her - you do NOT need to stay. GL!!

I have a 22 year old. Even back then, in the stone ages, they took weight, BP and urine every single time. I've only had one appointment with this pregnancy and they did the same.

I'm always leery of doctors that think they know everything and presume anything. Pregnancy and childbirth are probably the most dangerous times in a woman’s life, it is not the time for a doctor to be cavalier about your health.
