New mirena coil, cramps... how long?

So I went to the clinic to discuss options this morning and ended up being talked into having the mirena, I don't need it for contraception (no partner) but for my extremely painful and heavy periods.

I was wondering for those of you who have had the mirena how long did you experience cramping after having it put in.

I'm having quite bad cramps (I know it's only a few hours after having it put in lol). And spotting. I'm managing ok with some cocodamol and a hot water bottle but really can't be doing with this pain lasting too long it's not as bad as the periods though!

When I had mine fitted the cramps and spotting only lasted a few days... but Ive heard others can have it several weeks. Fingers crossed it wont be long for you

Thanks hun the cramps are very slight now and spotting seems to have stopped so all good
