Hello all, I hope you don't mind me coming in, but I think this is where I should be.

My name is Laura, I am 22 years old and hapily living with my partner of 2 years (ish).

A little background: I fell pregnant last year in Feb but sadly miscarried. I immediately got an injection of Depo, not wanting to ever experience anything similar again. A few weeks after getting it, and my hormones having settled down, I realised I had been a bit of a fool, and wanted a child more than anything. After about 4 months, I had a "normal" period. I had previously had an internal ultrasound to test for PCOS and I was told that I did have it. The blood tests came back as having slightly raised LH and FSH. Around 4 months after the depo injection, I had another internal ultrasound scan that showed that I did not have PCOS, and the woman said that I had no cysts at all on my ovaries (something I think that cannot be right surely?). It is now over a year of no birth control, and my periods have gotten longer and longer apart. I brought a Clear Blue Fertility monitor but that is futile now as my cycles are too long to use it.

I am currently bleeding, but it is not what I would call a period - there are no symptoms and no continuous bleeding.IT stops and starts. My last "period" was 67 days ago.

I have gone to the doctor and theyhave done blood tests, they have come back normal to one doctor, and showing signs of PCOS to another one. They have booked me in for an ultrasound to see what is going on. I have asked her if there is anything that I can be given to bring on a period, but she has said that I will have to go on the pill to do this - which TTC I dont want to do.

I have done a bit of reading up on it (as much as I can do!) and Clomid seems to be helpful in bringing on ovulation. I really dont see how I can be ovulating giving how long the cycles are.

What do you all advise I do? I never anticipated at 22 I would be looking into getting fertility drugs and stuff, but then I guess no one here thought that. It might be worth adding that since the MC I have put on about a stone (wasnt exactly a feather weight beforehand).

Any advice is greatly appreciated - I intend to see the doctor next week in order to get more information and to try and hurry things up.

Hi! I am also 22 and recently started visiting this board. My husband and I have been trying 2 and a half years. I have went through a battery of testing and even had a couple of cysts... I have been off all birth control since ttc. During that time I experienced a lot of irregularity up until the past 4 months. On one of these occasions one of my doctors (I say one because I have consulted with several--having never seemed to find a good one) offered if my period did not start to give me a pill to induce one. I believe it is Provera. Just ask for it, I don't see why a doctor would not have suggested this to you to start. It isn't good for the body to go so long in between bleeding! I hope this helps.. I really hope you can find something that is treatable!

The pill to induce your period is indeed a BC pill, but they don't put you on it long enough to prevent pregnancy. Usually only 7-10 days, but they usually do that in conjunction with Clomid or another fertility drug to insure/raise chances of ovulation.

I've been there with my cycles slowly getting longer and longer, for awhile I went up to 6 months without one. You CAN still be ovulating with cycles that long, but it's far to hard to pinpoint when/where. However, if you don't think you're ovulating, you most likely aren't, us girls know our bodies after TTC for awhile, lol.

I would push for clomid from the doctor. It could regulate your cycles as well. I haven't had to induce my period since my first cycle of clomid, and they've gone down to a normal 29-33 days per cycle.

I know how you feel, I never thought I'd have trouble conceiving, but here I am at 21 on fertility drugs.

Hi Laura,

Maybe whilst all of this is being investigated you should be taking/charting your basal body temps. That will help as it will show whether you are ovulating or not.

Good luck,

Cx
