I will be starting femara this coming cycle, up until now I have been on clomid but my dr feels it's "not working" because last cycle my follie wasn't ready for trigger by day 13. ??? Didn't know all hope was lost by day 13, but I am not the one who passed my boards. Starting to like my current dr less and less but he is the only one in my area that is available to me. Anyway, wondering, has anyone that has made the switch from clomid to femara had the same or better results? Also, is femara as dangerous as clomid? I have heard horror stories of women who were on clomid too long...

I took clomid and I didn't ovulate with it...my follicles were small. I started femera this last cycle and I got a 22mm follicle!! So I got a trigger shot and now we are waiting til Wednesday to see if I ovulated...femera doesn't give you all the side effects either. The only thing I had with it was a headache. If you feel that your doctor isn't really there for you...you should try to get another doctor. I switched obs and I'm happier now. So if clomid didn't work for you...femera might be the trick. :) good luck!!

Hello, I'm new here! I am curious how that works out for you. My doctor suggested it for me, but I just haven't given it a try yet. She said it works really well for her PCOS patients as well and like 4 out of 5 of them that she prescribed it to, got pregnant.

Clomid can make you have "unfriendly" CM, but I guess Femara doesn't??? She said it's actually a drug used for breast cancer. Hope it goes well for you. I might be starting Femara sometime soon too. I hated the Clomid...

I really like femera. My doctor said most women with PCOS wont respond with clomid...but some do...he said that femera is what he recommends...so we tried it and I'm glad we did...I didn't think it was doing anything..but boy was I surprised! Ill keep you updated. Good luck ladies :) hope it works for you :)

I did six cycles of clomid 50mg-150mg, ovulated twice and had horrible side effects.

Im on my 2nd femara cycle, ovulated with only 5mgs, on CD16 first cycle, had a natural cycle and ovulated on CD17, and this current femara cycle ovulated on CD15! And very little side effects!

Femara wins for me!

I have a femera vs clomid question for you guys.... hopefully this isn't too nosy!

I'm going to start clomid cycles again in february, but i'm debating on wether or not to ask to do femera instead. How long do you have to take it for? Is it for 5 days like clomid? Also, I know my insurance doesn't cover it...about how much was it for 1 cycle?

Thanks!

Yes its the same as clomid take it for 5 days and I don't think it was to expensive.

good luck with the femara! :) I didn't do clomid but I can vouch for femara for PCOS, I did three cycles and ovulated each time :happydance: still have another three to go, just psyching myself up :laugh2

This is my first Femara cycle after four Clomid cycles and I can say the only plus side is abundant EWCM during ovulation which is needed to guide the sperm to your egg. On Clomid I was very dry all month long.

I ended up having 2 LH surges on Femara meaning I received a positive OPK CD 14 and then another CD 22; never happened on Clomid, but my ovulation felt strong on CD 22. Women with PCOS tend to have multiple LH surges in one cycle.

Side effect wise Femara was worse than Clomid for me however it isn't the same for everybody else. I'm in the 2ww now.

I ovulated on femera! Found out today my Cd 21 progesterone is 13.3 and they want it over 10 so yayyy! And my thyroid was normal!! Yayyy :) so femera worked this cycle for me...hopefully I get good news on Christmas!

The femara ended up working the first cycle, good sized follie right on cd14, but this cycle was the day of my u/s, 3 follies were growing but they were only 10 mm 10 mm and 8 mm, so my dr says we will wait until next cycle and try again because he doesn't believe this cycle will produce an ovulation. he still advised to take opk's though (just in case)

Backstory: I have two little boys (4 and 2) conceived quickly without any assistance. We have been trying for almost a year for another baby. 3 months ago my cycles wet crazy and we discovered my progesterone was tanked and I wasn't ovulating. Last month was my first month taking Femera and my target brand ovulation predictor test showed that my LH surge was about a week long and started on day 13 of my cycle. When I went in to get my blood test on day 22 my progesterone was up to 31 and they said I definitely ovulated! This month has me confused because I started testing for LH surge yesterday (day 9) and I already am showing a surge. Has anyone else had an issue with prolonged surges on femera or when using the target brand OPKs? Is is still possible to get pregnant with elevated LH? Should I call my Dr?
