Just this week we switched over to formula due to my pregnancy drying up my milk. LO has been pooing non stop!!!!! WAY more than ever before. At least we're not having constipation issues but his butt is getting RAW!

He has never had a diaper rash before and the only thing we've changed is his milk. Please help! Do we need to switch formulas? Not feed as often? Right now he gets 4 6oz bottles a day.

Any input would be great!

Oh no, poor L! :(

How long has he been on formula again, and what kind does he drink? I think 4 6oz bottles is very good, so he's not drinking too much. A has increased her bottles lately, and is now taking 5 - 5-6oz bottles a day.

I know it takes their little systems some time to get used to the formula. Especially after being on breastmilk for so long. It *may* have something to do with the formula. I would say if the excessive pooing lasts longer than a week or 2, then call his doctor and see what they say. They may want to just check it to make sure something isn't wrong.

The change may have made his stomach a little sensitive. As Tweak says give it a few days and if still lots of Bowel movements get it checked. I'm moving my LO gradually mixing formula with expressed breast milk but she has had a dodgy tum and now a nappy rash, but it's settling now four days in.

Thank you girls for replying.
He's been on formula since Sunday. I'm going to call his doc today if only to maybe get a stronger cream for the rash. He starts crying when I start to lay him down on the changing table  And I put as much cream on as I can at each diaper change and it only looks worse  My poor baby.

Bless him!! Yes it can change their bowel habits when thy move on to formula. Just use a thick barrier cream like sudocrem and try and have as much nappy free time as possible. Changing the formula probably won't help. Formula fills them up a lot more than breastmilk so they will have more frequent/bigger poos but it should settle down soon when he gets used to it. If it looks very sore then get some cream from the docs but stick with your feeding and he will soon be happy again! X
