I guess I properly belong here now. Just found out that DH has poor swimmers and have been referred to a fertility clinic only it will take about a year to get in and start treatments. Dr. told us we should focus on IUI with sperm washing of DH's sperm to pick out the best of the best.

Anyone do this kind of treatment? If so what should I expect?

Hi Kelly, don't have any answers as to what you should expect because I am not going through that experience in particular.

but I wanted to wish you all the best, and welcome you to our little extended family of LTTTC'ers :hugs:

Thanks guys! I hope it is a short stay but it's not looking like that. We've got a year to go and hoping for a miracle in between.

Hi Kelly...sorry to hear about your news. All I can say is stay positive, we are all behind you and will give you all the support you need :)

x

Hi Kelly....we too have been trying with a bad SA, and were lucky enough to fall pregnant. Then unfortunately I mc again, but it does show you there is hope.

The ladies here have been incredibly helpful and a bit of time looking through some past threads showed me that actually there is loads that can often be done by yourselves at home, with diet and supplements that can at least help improve matters, if not fix them. Some girls OH's have seen 8 or 10 fold improvement in some areas....gotta be worth a try in the meantime.

Good luck and I hope your stay here proves short and sweet xxx

Hey Kelly

Welcome to LTTTC.

Sorry to hear about DH's :spermy: - there are a lot of us in the same boat! Excellent news that you get to try IUI whilst waiting for anything more invasive.

Quite a few girls on here have had IUI - i'm sure they will be along along to share there experiences. Good luck :hugs:

Hi huni, sorry to hear about DH I'm afraid I can't give u any advice as although we to have MF its azoospermia so we straight to ICSI.

Just wanted to say Hi tho n wish u all luck in world...

xxxxxxx:hug:

Hi my old cycle buddy.....sorry to hear about DH...but you'll get lots of advice on here about how you can up his count. We are still waiting on DHs SA....have an appt on the 24th of June.

I see you are in Alberta.....I know every province has different health care but why do you have to wait a year. Here in Ontario, IUI is not covered by OHIP and there is no wait...is it covered in Alberta?

If it's not, there is no reason you should wait a year...just call up a fertility clinic.....I only waited about 10 days for an appt after doc referred me....which may not be the case in Alberta but it's worth a shot.

Good luck and keep me posted.

Hugs and babydust.

Hi Kelly. I don't have your particular problem but there are loads of threads on here that will help you. Just wanted to wish you luck and hope you find something that will help you. Hopefully there will be no need to see Fs in a years time!

Hey again hopefulfor09!!! It turns out we only have to wait 3 to 6 months to get in. In order to go to a fertility clinic out here we have to get a referral and it's getting the initial appointment that will take the 3 to 6 months, once we do that we're set to try every month. So it's a bit better then the year wait. It's not covered out here for the actual treatments but the tests to see if tubes are blocked and SA's and such are all covered. I would also have to pay for the clomid but the receptionist at the clinic assured me it is not very expensive.

So you are waiting for IUI aswell? Did DH;s sa come back bad? My DH's was bad but the told us it was good at the first dr. It took us going to the specialist for her to say hey no somethings up! His morphology is bad. %90 are deformed but it could be his celiac so he is on a gluten free diet with another SA July 8. We hope to see some improvement.
