Good evening!
This is my first time posting on one of these threads, but I feel that I am all in at this point, so why not! My TTC journey began at 18 when I was started on PROVERA to induce a period. I was a late bloomer and very athletic, but didn't ever tart my period on my own. The provera didn't work, so the Dr. put me on birth control which did bring on a period. I stayed on the BC pills off and on for eight years. At that time the doctor did lots of tests to make sure everything was okay. All labs came back low/normal, no pituitary tumor, all necessary organs accounted for, etc. The doctor diagnosed it as hypogonadotropism (not sure of spelling). I would occasionally go off it to see if my cycle would start on its own, but it never did. Two and a half years ago, my husband and I decided to get serious about what options we may have in terms of growing our family. We saw a fertility specialist who ran similar labs to the ones I had done as a teenager. She was encouraged and said to go off BC when we felt ready and to check in with her after six months. The timing wasn't right, so we waited until last April. My regular OBGYN sent me to a new doctor. He suggested going off the pill to see what happens. NOTHING. This was expected. I went back to him in September and he started me on 10 of Provera for seven days. I got a period four days after stopping. It was six days long and I started a fertility monitor at the end. The monitor picked up a rise in estrogen, but no LH surge was detected. We baby danced around when I think ovulation would have happened, but I don't think I ovulated. I have taken pregnancy tests, and they are negative. The doctor said the next step would be Provera followed by either Clomid or Femara. He is actually retiring and so now I will continue with a new doctor. I have an appointment on 11/3 to hopefully get the new plan. If a period were to begin again it would be sometime this week. I am ready to get this plan in motion. The doctor from when I was a teen said that I would probably never get pregnant, but both fertility specialists said they were encouraged. Here's to hoping!
Me: I am a teacher, will be turning 30 very soon, have been married almost 7 years. No babies yet, only my school babies.

I'm sorry you are having such a tough time and hope you get sone answers and hope soon

Tomorrow is my doctor's appointment, so hopefully I will have a new plan of action.

I can tell you, I experienced something similar in the beginning of my fertility treatments. I would suggest a couple of things...1. if you are seeing a regular OB GYN, go ahead and ask for a refferal to a specialist. GYNs are ok..but with infertility they can only do so much.

If yo are seeing a specialist already, maybe ask if there is another in the practice you could see. Just ask the people at the desk, you don't even have to ask the Dr. if that makes you uncomfortable.

I started on clomid. When clomid didn't work we moved to Artificial insemination of IUI. after three or four failed IUI's we moved to IVF... I'm telling you this bc I have unknown infertility...my prolactin was too high but i don't have the gland issues or PCOS like many women. Find a Dr, that is as eager as you to help you conceive. That doesn't mean rushing...but it means they move things a bit faster so you aren't floating in limbo for ages. My entire TTC story is over 5 years...but when I saw a good Dr it only took about 8 months.

Good luck!! Prayers from PA

Saw the doctor today who had originally referred me to the specialist two years ago. She consulted with the retiring specialist and they decided to do another round of provera followed by femara. I so wish they would have tried that last time! I can't start taking the provera yet b/c she wants to do ultrasounds around day 12 (which would fall over thanksgiving when the clinic is closed). I have to be out of town the following week for work, so that means I can't start provera until the 13th. I really hope it works as well as it did last time! Anyone had experience with Femara? They told me it was a better fit for me than Clomid because Clomid can decrease estrogen, and I need all the estrogen I can get. Thoughts?

I am sorry you are having a tough time ETA, having the right doctors is really important. And for a doctor to tell you that you will "never" get pregnant is just stupid and you should just run as far away from that doctor as possible. I hate when people say "never" there is always a solution to every problem. Sorry for the vent!

We are very similar, I am 32 and have had irregular periods my entire life. Would go 6 or more months without getting anything. In my teens I was on birth control but went off in my 20's. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 19 so I knew I had fertility issues. I do not ovulate on my own.

This is simple to fix, does take time on your behalf to find out what "cocktail" works best for you. I am on Clomid, have not had any bad experiences, had a trigger shot to induce ovulation then had IUI 36hrs after trigger. I am in my TWW and fx'ing for a sticky bean.

So hang in there, enjoy the journey, it is not going to all be positive news and just do whatever is in your power to get that sticky bean!

Staring the provera today!! So glad to finally be doing this. I took 10 mugs and will take them once a day for seven days. Once bleeding begins, I will take Femara on days 3-7. Fingers crossed!!
