Just changed LO's diaper after a trip to the store, and noticed the crease where her leg meets her hooha has white creamy goo in it. Washed her off and the affected area is red and sore looking :'(

I had a little sample packet of "Desitin Creamy Rapid Relief" sitting around, so I smeared some of that on the red area. Is this some kind of diaper rash? No bad smell or anything. She has had a trouble free diaper zone so far. She's 6 weeks.

My little man gets that sometimes. I chalk it up to either diaper ointment or lotion. I just wipe it away and move on. :)

could also be leftover vernix/vaginal discharge. are there bumps?

Desitin works very quickly for us, my LO has had rash problems since we had a bad issue with her cloth diapers!

if it seems worse you can try the Desitin maximum (purple packaging) and then if it's even worse you can get an RX cream from pediatrician

My little guy gets it too and something similar in his armpits sometimes too. I just clean it up real good and don't worry about it.

Ok cool...it's definitely not coming from inside her vagina, just in the folds next to everything. We have never put any lotions or ointments on her before so it couldn't be that (this packet was the 1st thing I have used on her) . The redness was right where her diaper leg hole hits. Maybe I am fastening them too tight and it's rubbing?

It's skin! Well at least it was where my son was concerned. Sometimes it would be soft, sometimes it would be dry, sometimes he would get really red :( Just keep it clean! x

I went to the doctor for the same reason (was under her neck in folds and in the creases of her thighs) and he said it was "cheese" from moisture.

Once you've bathed or changed LO, make sure the creases are dry and if they start to look sore or weep, add some nappy cream to it :)

Oh poor Lily....I bet it's not comfortable. I'll be sure to keep her nice and clean in there. She tends to froggie up her legs in the tub and we might have missed that area when washing her.

Yeah it just happens where there are creases and it can get a bit wet and sticky and sore. It has happened to Joni on the bank of the neck and I think the same place as your lo had it when she was tiny. I just cleaned it and make sure I dry thoroughly after every wash and bath etc. I use a soft towel to dry her leg creases after a nappy change and it has never happened again. Sometimes the front of the neck can get affected to from dribble and milk, and the fact they often squirm when you try to clean there, so be careful of the same thing in that area too. It's nothing to worry about tough.
