Hi Girls,

I am 35, married for 3 years and live in lancashire UK. I dont have any childeren yet but have just very recently been dignosed with PCOS so im hoping to make some new friends and support.

My tale about my suspected problems is that I came off the pill nearly a year ago to ttc and my first few periods were quite regular, then the last 2 or 3 have been getting further and further apart so i went to the docs and he sent me for an ultrasound and blood tests.
I was told that I had a tilted womb a number of years ago but the sonographer said that this is normal now but both of my ovaries are enlarged and i have have lots of immature cysts on my ovaries. The blood test results were normal but my progestrogen level very very low so I definatley didnt ovulate last month:sad1:
I definately have other symptoms of PCOS too - the irregular periods, i have a period every 2 or 3 months, I am overweight, i have some unwated hair and acne.
Im trying to stay positive but its quite daunting from here on in, im being refferred to a gynaecologist and really dont know what to expect

Anyway, i hope to get to know you better and if I can offer any advice i will certainly try although its really early days for us at the mo.

Hugs and baby dust!

Welcome both of you! I have been on here on and off for the last two years, and two miscarriages and what ever the problem there is always someone here who has been through it and can offer a kind word of advice or just listen, I´m sure you will find it helpful. This isn´t an easy journey and we all get worried, stressed and have our panics but then there is good news everyday to and success stories too and support when you need it. Good luck for a sticky bean soon.

welcome :hi:
i haven't been here for that long either (just over 2 months) but i already feel i know lots of lovely ladies who will give support and advise whenever needed!

Hi!

I've got PCOS too. Getting pregnant can take a while longer when you have this syndrome but it's certainly not impossible. I know how hard it is to maintain a healthy weight and also to overcome some of the other symtoms like hirsutism and acne. Do you also battle with mood swings, fatigue and depression? It wasn't until relatively recently that I realised that these were part of having PCOS too! :dohh:

I hope you get the support that you need but just to warn you if you haven't heard it already, when you go to see the specialist he/she will most likely focus on your weight so try your very best to get as close to a healthy BMI as possible.

In addition to clomid which can help with ovulation, you may also be prescribed Metformin to help with insulin resistance which in turn will help with weight loss.

Lastly, read up as much as you can about PCOS from Collette Harris' book or PCOS for Dummies is also a good one. At least this way you're well informed when you get referred. You'd be surprised just how many Drs in this day and age still don't know enough about PCOS!!

All the best
xxxx

Hi Claire, and welcome to BnB! :hi:

It's great news that you got a PCOS diagnosis so quickly - better that than ttc for years and years without knowing the underlying issue.

You might want to check out this thread: TTC 1st child 35+. The ladies there have a wide range of issues and backgrounds, including a couple with PCOS, but the main thing we have in common is we're all trying for #1 and we're all at least 35.

Good luck, and welcome again! :flower:

Hey ladies,:flower:

Thanks so much for welcoming me and the PCOS it means alot at the mo and as time ticks on im realising that I have probably had this for longer than since coming off the pill.
As im still reading up on this and facing some other symtoms i realise my feeling unusually shattered is part of this. Im not working right now but while i have been just doing the average Mon - Fri 9-5pm job i was coming home feeling totally washed out and now i realise that this is something else. My mood swings have always been bad, particularly near my period im an over anxious, crabby, chocolate scoffing, crampy biatch but I feel like that even when i dont have a period so bit by bit im understanding this better.
You are right about getting sorted with my eating habits and giving myself abit of disipline(SP?!) atleast by doing that you take back some control.

Anyhoo, its food shopping day so will say bye for now and speak to you all again soon and thanks again for welcoming me here, have a fab weekend :happydance:

Hugs n babydust:hugs:

Are we twins?? :winkwink:

If you can sort out your diet (I'm not talking weight loss here) but I mean in terms of carefully monitoring what you eat, you will be amazed at the impact it will have on your energy levels, mood and general wellbeing. I know this sounds obvious and applies to everyone but I'm talking from a PCOS perpective. Ultimately you will lose weight and in turn could improve your fertility too. It took me YEARS to work this out!
