Hey everyone I'm new on here. I've been reading the threads for a while and thought I would finally pluck up the courage to write on here. I am 25 and me and my husband have been ttc for 3 years. I am having a hsg done in the morning and I am petrified! Has any one had this done? Is it painful? Any advice would be greatly appriaciated 😊

:hi: hun, Im also 25 and been ttc for over 3 years nearly 4!
Welcome to the site- us girls on here are very chatty and welcoming :)

I have had a hsg done- good luck and dont be scared, some ladies dont feel a thing but i did but I think that was to do with my tube being blocked. Take painkillers before you go and dont be scared honestly just relax :)

Please update on how you get on

Welcome! I'm pretty new, too! I had my HSG last Wednesday. It wasn't my favorite experience but it does go relatively quickly. As said above, I had some pain as well but I think that was due to my blockages. Take some pain meds about 30 minutes before your appt. and try to relax as much as you can. I think relaxation helps with the cramping a bit.

Best of luck to you!! Let us know your results!

Welcome!!! Had my HSG last March. I didn't feel a thing and it was quick. My clinic recommended that I take 2 painkillers before. Goodluck and "see" you around.

Welcome Bambi. Like MrsCompass, I didn't feel a thing with my hsg in October. It was even better than a pap. I didn't take anything beforehand either. I actually didn't have an opportunity to, as I was in for my initial consultation with my RE and she had an cancellation right then and asked if I wanted to take the appt. So I did, and it was no big deal for me, although I didn't have any blockages either. Good luck!

Welcome! Like others have said, take some Ibuprofen or Aleve (something that will reduce swelling, not just help the pain) about an hour before. I had no pain at all, and they actually had a hard time getting the catheter in, so there was quite a bit of poking around going on down there!! :dohh: I could feel it, kind of like pressure, but no pain. Good luck, and lots of :dust:!!!

Hey, I'm also 25 and trying for 3.5 years.

I've not had a HSG done but I am waiting for an appointment to get my tubes looked at. Hope you aren't in this group long.

Good luck. X

So I'm home and I had my hsg. It was no where near as bad as I imagined. They told me my tubes are clear no blockages which is great but still no explanation as to why we are not getting pregnant!
