Newborn drinking too fast

Hi guys, first time poster here.

My firstborn is now 8 days old and is being breastfed. Over the last 2 days she has started drinking too fast and is choking on the milk, it's also making her go off her feed once it happens. It's happened every feed today

She'll be alright... right?

It's probably that your let down is a bit much for her meaning the milk comes out too fast. She will be fine and will learn to handle the flow. You can help a little by expressing a little before feeding, but it's not essential.

hi...i 've had the same thing. My LO is like that as well. its when the flow is too much for her to take. I generally massage my breast and let some milk out before i start feeding her. When she chokes try propping her up and gently blow on her fontella....they say it helps with the choking. xx

I have a fast flow and have found the same although its much better now. Try lying down while feeding as that slows down the flow? Also as the girls have already said maybe try expressing a bit off first. Good luck

I have this in my right side and i found that laying harry on top of my boob helped as the milk then had to flow uphill so it slows down!!
I think he must be learning to guzzle fast that side as he doesnt choke so much now he seems to keep up with it better!!

My left boob makes my boy choke a bit. Though he seems to have learnt to let go and squash the nip up so mummy squirts herself up the nose instead!.
