FTM here, baby is 9 days old... He had a huge feed, bigger than usual...20 minutes on each boob, and then spit up a TON! It had to have been everything! Do I feed again right away? Wait? Did I over feed him? Is it normal to spit up that much? Had to change both our outfits...

Mine has done that a few times. I think it was just that he overate. He would cluster feed for the rest of the day after each time

Mine used to do this regularly, I think she just didn't know her limits when she was newborn. I always tried to leave her for a while afterwards and then fed again. She was usually pretty calm afterwards so I would get her to nap for half an hour or so before offering her more. She rarely does it now although oddly she did it today ALL over my mates couch!! Thankfully it was a leather couch lol! X

Hi hun,

Our little man is 5 weeks and has done this a few times. The first time was when he had gorged himself and the other times when he had been coughing due to mucous and just thrown up as a result.
I tend to give him a quick bath to clean him up and then feed again.
Its disheartening when its breastmilk that's gone to waste isn't it =o)

my LO is the same age as yours and did the same and i was really worried so I'm glad you posted this thread and that I'm not the only one! I was really worried that I had over fed her but the MW said BF babies can't be over fed?

Babies spit up a lot, I think it peaks around 2 months if I'm not mistaken. I remember with DS I had a bib on him all the time just so I didn't have to do as many outfit changes.

Just watch out if this keeps happening as my lo turned out to be dairy protein intollerant and caused her to spit up frequently and not able to settle laying down :-/
