Hello

I had posted this in another area but not really sure if I might have posted it in the wrong area first time - hope it's the right area here and that I've posted in the right area this time

I have recently been diagnosed with PCOS and don't seem to be ovulating.

I had the implanon in for about 2 years before I decided to have it removed nd go on the pill. I haven't had a proper period for about 3 years but non at all for about 14months.

My doctors kept telling me it was down to stress, although at the time I wasn't stressed at all, they've since sent me to a councellor and have me on citalopram

I finally had some tests which confirmed that I had PCOS and this is probably why I hadn't been ovulating. I have put on a huge amount of weight and know I have to tackle this.

What I am struggling with atm is how on earth do I get to a point where I may actually ovulate. With this condition what do I do first?

I have read some things about a low gi diet, certain vitamins, once the weight has gone certain medications from the doctor. How much weight would I have to loose before I would be eligble for any help?

Sorry for going on but I'm all abit lost with this.

Appreciate any help

Thanks

Anna x

Hi Butterfly, I have PCOS too and wasn't ovulating, this was soon fixed with Metformin within the 1st month of taking it.
I am not sure if there is a 'ideal' weight for taking it (i don't think there is) but maybe this would help.
I also found that being on a low carb diet helps as well.

Good Luck,

I have pcos too, my FS put me on Clomid (clomiphene citrate) which makes me ovulate beautifully xxx

Hi Butterfly

I have PCOS, dont ovulate and am currently 'obese' - I hate that word, it makes me think of being 30 odd stone or something!!! Doc has given me metformin and told me to lose 2 stone and she will give me clomid. The met can help lose weight but only if you are watching your diet anyway. The GI diet is meant to be fab, low carb too - but dont cut them out completely as its unhealthy!! Ive just started on a healthier diet, I cant cut out carbs for other health reasons but ive already lost 3lb this week just by sticking to things like new potatoes and wholegrains rather than white carbs, and obv no cake!!!lol
Ive googled and googled and a lot of people have said that ovulation can return to normal just by losing 10% of your body weight, which is what im aiming for. Docs also given me weight loss drug orlistat. Not been brave enough to try it yet though as ive heard some horroer stories!!

Not sure if ive even answered your question now lol!!!!

babybubbles thats how i lost my stone with orlistat

i didn't find it that had tbh, as long as you sick to less than 5g of fat per 100g it's fine

i did have a couple of side effect with that was my own doing i knew it would happen it only last for the one time you go anyway - not to sound crude lol

i still have lots at home so when i go in tomorrow i'll ask if it's worth me goign back on then for a while at least

if i were you i'd give it a go, if you know you will be bad that day ie going out for a meal or party then donlt take them that day or if you aren;t having any fat in your meal ie low fat/calorie soup or fruit you don't actually need to take it

if you don't get on with it at least you've tried then, a word of warninf though my mumwas on them too and got rather windy pmsl :happydance:

Hi. I just found out I had PCOS last Thursday and started taking 750mg of Metformin. I will be increasing it to 1500mg tomorrow. My cycles are pretty regular and I am not overweight at all. I had thought I was ovulating on my own, but now I'm not quite sure. Anyway, after only six days of the Met I have huge amounts of EWCM (sorry TMI), but I have never had this much before. I haven't gotten a + OPK but I'm hopeful that it's coming. I would suggest requesting a prescription. Baby dust!!!
