My six month old boy had been sleeping through, but for the past few weeks has been waking up during the night for a feed.

This is despite being on 3, 7oz & 1, 8oz bottles and 3 meals per day. My HV says by 6 months he should be off the night feed and is probably waking and looking for food due to habbit. So for the past two nights have not fed him when he woke. He was so unsettled all night.

What do you think, should I carry on feeding him at night, when he wakes for a feed he takes about 6oz, surely he would not take this amount if he was not hungry?

He is around 18 and half lbs so a reasonably big boy.

thanks ladies x

there is a growth spurt at 6 months hun so maybe thats why hes waking. i still feed my 6 month old at night, and i know there are lots of people on here who still feed their 7/8 month olds in the night. do what you think is best if hes hungry, feed him! x

we kept putting his dummy in as we noticed he was taking much of LO's feeding and found out it was due to habit and looking for food so we tried the dummy and if he went over crying i mean really crying for it then he needs feeding if hes just crying an then stops an bes quiet an then say a few hours later does again then poss feed him but we put dummy in an hes goes abit longer an up until 5am an then me or OH get up to feed him he we went 11 hours sleep lastnight so me is well happy and managed to sleep better ! x
