Between being a boy and a tummy sleeper, I'm finding that Leo's diaper is sometimes leaking at night. I do change his diaper once or twice at night, but that doesn't always keep his clothes (or mine!) or the bed dry. He's a bit over 18 pounds and in size 3 diapers. Would it help to do size 4 at night? Is there another solution? Or is this just something we're going to have to deal with?

I would say go up a size and try overnight diapers. My little guy pees so much at night still that regular ones just don't do.

Go up a size and try overnights. I got on well with pampers overnights.

I always found that my LOs nappies started leaking at night when she needed to go up a size, then when she goes up a size there's no issue. I believe size 4 is from 15lb so your LO should fit in them just fine!

Yep I agree - go up a size & try night nappies. We use pampers baby dry at night & then own brand supermarket ones during the day when we're changing more often. Always worked with dd & works so far with ds :)

We have this problem too. I've read people recommending turning the nappy around and apparently that helps but we haven't tried it yet.
We still have this problem and Dominic is in nappies which go up to 40lb and he's only 21lb so he doesn't need to change but he still leaks.

This is my life right now. It is beyond frustrating because just when I think I have it all figured out it leaks again!

We now use Pampers overnight diapers with underwear on top. And if kiddo wakes to nurse a lot I will change his diaper. But, he's 2.5 years old and I haven't changed his diaper overnight since he stopped pooping overnight! This makes for an unhappy little guy when I have to change him. :(

We seem to have leaks out the top of the diaper, over his hip. That's why we have the underwear on top. It seems to hold his diaper snug around his waist. We have also used cloth diaper covers but we only have 1 with Velcro and the snaps just don't adjust right.

Usually going up a size in diapers is all we needed to fix the leaks.

I understand completely the frustration so I really, truly hope you figure out a solution soon.

We tried:

Going up a size

Huggies little movers (allergic reaction plus leaks)

Backwards diaper

2 diapers layered

Cloth diaper inserts inside the disposable

Cloth diaper cover over the disposable

Underwear over the disposable - this one has worked the longest.

I think when we buy more, we'll try the next size up at least for night time. Size three still works fine the rest of the time.

We found that using an extra absorbent one worked. Here, Asda does a + size range that is extra absorbent for nighttime, so you can get a size 4 or a size 4+ for overnight. (Asda is the same as Walmart, so you might see what they have). Or just look for overnight ones.

What do you currently use? Around this time I changed to Pampers Baby Dry for night. We didn't move up to 4s til 8 months (but she was 18lbs at 9 months so she is a little smaller to your LO). Around 13 months she was leaking at night BAD especially beinG a tummy sleeper but I knew 5s would be too big. Someone suggested Huggies Overnight and it's like magic! We've only had 2 leaks in the last month.

We had to switch my son to size 4s at just under 18 lbs. I know they say size 3 can fit a heavier baby, but we didn't find that to be the case and were having pee leaks once per day. Day care started putting him in 4s before we caved in and did the same.

We had this same problem. It was a total mess. We tried diaper covers and they worked like magic. We haven't had a single issue since we started using them over the disposable diapers. In case it helps, you can see the exact ones we used on my list of favorite baby items for our twins! Good luck! https://www.theydontfeedthemselves.com/newborn-twin-baby-product-must-haves/

As soon as my son started to really wet his nappies and get wet patches in the morning, I switched to the next size up. Stops straight away, holds a little more and comes up a bit higher so hopefully less leakage!

I also noticed if I put pj bottoms with a top rather than a onesie, the bed time bottoms helped keep the nappy in place around the waist where as sometimes with a onesie it would wiggle down!

We were using underwear on top of the diaper under 2 piece jammies to hold the waist in but that stopped working. We're using Maxaloones on top of underwear over a nighttime diaper now. Seems to be working again for a bit...
