Hiya,

I'm probably going to opt for a planned section when I go for my appt next month to discuss my options. My daughter was an emergency section at 35wks as she was breach and I went into early labour. I think all I had on was a hospital gown - not sure if I had a nightdress - I think because they needed access to my back for the spinal it was just a gown.

However, what I would like a to know is do I need to take a nightdress for wearing during the section this time - I'm taking pj's for the next couple of days as I wasn't comfortable in nightdresses last time.

Mine was an planned section, They gown you for your actual section and I stayed in that gown for the reminder of that day and through the night, simply cause I wasn't allowed out of bed, however, next morning I showers and put a nightie on! Be careful with Pj's, I still looked pregnant for the first couple of days and they weren't comfortable to wear due to incision and gas! Not pleasant but in told completly normal! So I would say yes take a night dress, perhaps one that you will feel comfortable in with visitors etc

Thanks, i've put an extra nightdress in just in case, but when I had my section last time I didn't have PJ's and had to have hubby bring them in for me. I hated being in my nightdress and having those bloody stockings on. It was too hot, so the covers weren't over me and I just wasn't comfy in a nightdress at all. This time I'm covering all bases loL! The PJs were maternity ones which probably helped as they are shaped to go under the bump and they didn't irritate my wound.

I was at the GRI in Glasgow (I think you're central Scotland too?) and I was given a gown to wear for my ELCS with Midgelet. I was able to get changed out of it when the spinal had worn off and I was able to get up and have a shower (about 5 hours after the surgery). At that point I just put on my own clothes :)

I wore a hospital gown for the surgery and then a nurse came and helped me wash and put on a nightie a few hours later. I wasn't allowed to wear pjs because the nurses needed easy access to my lady area to change pads and check scar etc.
