So I have a fissure on my right nipple - the left is totally fine and BF on that side is a breeze, but the initial latch on my right nipple is so incredibly painful. It goes away but still feels a little raw while he's eating. My LO is only 2 weeks old so I don't want to pump while it heals, as I don't want my supply affected. His latch is fine (an improper latch is what caused the fissure but we got the latch sorted with a LC). I put breast milk on the nipple when he's done eating, and then lansinoh and I pretty much live without a top on. From what I've read elsewhere, fissures take some time to close up.

I was just wondering what other ladies here have had fissures, what you did to help heal them and how long it took.

Thanks :)

i didn't have this, but did have blisters which filled with blood, burst etc. The fissures sound very painful, poor you

I had a LOT of pain on latch on, subsiding after a minute of two. However it was getting worse day after day until i tried a dressing called 'atrauman'. Its small pieces of gauze impregnanted with an oily susbstance. It made a massive difference within a day or two. In the UK Health Visitors can prescribe it. It was (for me) vastly better than lansihoh

Good luck, i hope it gets better for you and you can continue to BF
