Yesterday Holly had her last neonatal appointment where she completed the Bayley's test. It feels a bit weird to know you no longer have them to go to if you have any concerns.

Thankfully Holly was in the mood to participate but towards the end she decided she had enough and when asked to do something she said no! Hilary who was doing the tests said she done really well and she has no concerns whatsoever and you would never believe she was born at 25 weeks. There was one bit that Holly completed and she even said only a handful of 2 year olds have managed it so I was very proud of her.

When asked had I any concerns I said not any immediate ones but I was struggling to believe that a 25 weeker with a grade IV IVH is going to come away from this totally unscathed. She understood and said she would refer her into the paediatric community so she is kept on the system and if any problems with concentration etc arise when she hits school then she will be on the system and we will have a contact to get her additional support. This has made me feel better as I was concerned if we had problems down the line what we would do. Glad she didn't think I was just a complete nutcase :dohh: Thankfully her referral will not mean any additional appointments just now and will only have them if a problem arises.

Woo hoo! I love Hilary! <3 go Holly!

That's great news! Well done, Holly!

wow that`s awesome news!! congratulations!!

My son recently passed an 18 month follow-up - the specialist he also did a few things most 2 year olds can`t accomplish. I was SOOOOO proud he might have well have cured cancer

Hurray!!!

Aww well done Holly - that's fab news :)

Sophie should be getting hers in the not too distant future. Bit nervous about it - what happens at it? She can be a bit shy around people she doesn't know but she usually does come around after a little while!

At the test they just do lots of different things to test skills in different areas. Some of them are pick Cheerios out of a small tub, put them back, Lego, point at things in books etc.

Holly is shy around strangers too but she seemed fine with Hilary. The years she has been doing it must have given her the knack to cope with all children!

Sophie will do great

Well done Holly! Don't think that your crazy for asking to be kept in the loop - as a mum of a premmie I think that we go through so much that we are always suspicious of plain sailing! Think it is inbuilt in us to always consider what might happen. Sounds like Holly is going from strength to strength!
