I paid in store today for some shopping in a large nationwide store, just under £30, and everything went through fine as normal.

Just been checking my bank online as I do multiple times a day, and there's absolutely no record of that payment I made today. I also withdrew cash from a cash point connected with said store and that is showing on my statement. Even when viewing pending transactions, nothing there, nor does my available balance reflect having spent this money..

Has this ever happened to anyone? Usually everything is within my 'pending transactions' within minutes, never known it to not be there 8 hours later. There's not been any issues with the bank, or online down time. Should I expect it to show up at some point? Or have I got a little lucky?

Stumped

I'm wondering something similar to yourself, I used pay at pump at my local supermarket, shiny new machines and put £15 diesel in, receipt says £15 too but when I checked my online banking my pending transactions for supermarket pay at pump says only £1 pending?! 😐

This happened to me once, which resulted in the bank trying to charge me as I forgot I'd bought the thing on that card then didn't transfer the money across. When I phoned the bank they said on occasion transactions can appear a few days after - luckily they saw I had money in my other accounts and it was a genuine mistake so they removed the charge.
I imagine it will be there by middle of next week...

There's plenty of money in my account, it should have just gone through like normal  will keep an eye out for it. Never ever happened before and I use my debit card a lot

It's just so strange that they've not even attempted to take any money at all. Yet transactions before and after it are as normal.

So it's a question of if they'd come searching days later?

Just baffled as you can tell lol!!

I bank with Santander and mine always takes a few days to show any transaction unless it's withdrawing money from a cash machine.

This can happen, it will likely be taken off of your available funds today.

Certain places take longer to show up on your statement. I have gotten myself in trouble because of looking and seeing how much I have (including pending transactions) and then a week later £30 disappears from my account and I realise that my shopping from 2 weeks ago hadnt yet been taken out! :dohh:

How very strange! I shop in this supermarket 2/3 times a week and it's never happened. I could technically remove every penny from my account and close it down as the way it looks online. Lol.

This usually happens if I shop in certain places. It will show up the next working day.

Give it a few days and it will come on. Card payments dont always shoe straight away

That's why it's baffled me though because mine have always shown  I've been online banking for years and check it everyday, multiple times and this has never ever happened  I've had the same current account for approaching ten years. My payments show as pending, and my available balance reflects the pending payment...always. Looool. It's all a bit strange to me!

I bet it shows on Monday, there's plenty of cash when they decide to pull their finger out their arse and take my money.

I imagine its also to do with the amount of transactions this time of year. x

This happens with Aldi everytime I go there, it doesnt come off until a week later and then I spend t by accident!
As for the pay at the pump £1 pending that happened to me. I thought id somehow managed to fluke it but it came off the normmal amount a few days later.

Often I find supermarket doesn't take money strait away and can take a few days to go out

Pay at pump only ever authorises a card for £1 or some are £2 for regular debit cards

Here in the U.S. anytime you pay for gas at the pump the gas station will do a pending authorization for $1, but depending on certain cards it will do it for a higher amount. For example, when I have used an American Express it did a pre auth for $125, and with Discover card a $75 pre-auth is not unusual.

The $1 falls off thought once the actual transaction goes through. If you don't
want it to do the $1 pre auth you have to pay inside. :)

It will come off in a few days, it happens to me often

We had one recently with British Gas. Booked an engineer to come out and paid using my husband's switch card £99 online that evening. Engineer arrives following day, work completed. Husband's available balance on his account goes down £99. Following day an entry posted showing £99 leaving account- no script saying British Gas but couldnt be anything else.

Then 5 weeks later we get a bill through the door asking us to pay. Checked husbands account and absolutely no record of the initial payment. Nothing at all. It must have been credited back in for some reason. But neither the credit nor the debit are showing.
Banks are strange. I can see now why my mum always writes down what she spends and what she has left every day as you apparently cant always trust what your online banking says!

This happens to me quite often, sometimes it takes almost a week for them to show up and for my balance to be altered.
