barnsley have said that they will NOT have a santas grotto this year as it upsets other cultures :nope:

so the nearest one is 15 miles away and they que up to 2 hrs to see santa  so looks like my kids wont be seeing him this year

also barnsley have decided not to put up the nativity scene out side of the town hall  am sorry but our town looks like we dont like christmas

sorry for the rant im not against other cultures living in england and we all have our rights to believe in diff things but dont they see a lot of kiddies are missing out on seeing santa

dont mean to sound awful in anyway :flower:

I understand totally, we dont get upset my other peoples cultures and traditions like Diwali and Ramadan etc so why would anyone get upset by a Christmas Nativity scene.

V xxx

santas grotto isnt too bad i mean its not the end of the world :flower:

but the nativity has been out side the town hall for about 50 years its just going to look so strange without it

PC gone crazy!!!
I think its terrible, and in the majority of cases it's not the ethic minorites that are upset by it but do gooders sticking thier oar in. The other cultures probabally have to travel 2 hours for their kids to see Santa too... oh the irony!
xXx

we dont have a lot of other cultures iving in barnsley  and even they like looking at the nativity so why not put it up

who gets upset by santas grotto?! Thats ridiculous. Hes a made up character who delivers presents to children. Nothing really religious about him whatsoever.

thats what i cant understand i havent EVER heard of any one complaining about it so why not have one  lol

i just think barnsley are tryin to save money

madness! other cultures probably arnt even botherd i mean its british tradition they live in britan its likely they expect it anyway, its other people making a big fuss over it! it gives people a bad name you get narrow minded idiots saying things like get out of our country if you dont like it, when its not the majority but a very small mininorty that are botherd by it!

Honestly??! They're gonna end up banning christmas all together soon the rate this silly 'not offending other cultures' malarky :( So sad.

OMG

That's just madness ... Christmas / Santa's Grotto is a british tradition, and I think it's upsetting the british culture :grr:

I'm not against people from other cultures living in the uk, but why should children in your area Aly not be able to see Santa? It's not fair on them :(

Aly they are having a santa every Wednesday in the mall for 3 weeks starting 7th December.

Seriously does someone actually get offended at things like this or are they stopping it in case someone gets offended which is stupid as it makes cultures who dont have a prob look bad? does someone honestly stand there and get offended at the sight of santa or even a pig in a play set? I cant imagine what sort of life someone would have if that offended them. I dont think its right and I dont care if some other religion dosnt like it as its not there to cause offence or harm to anyone and all religions have different dates to celebrate and things they do so wheres the live and let live here? why is it poeple have to stop doing things that are native to this country because someone gets offended at something harmless!
reality check ! come on.

wow this getting crazy! first elc taking the pig out of their farm toys so not to upset people from other religions and now no santa?!

If that happened here I'd go to the papers because as soon as they see a juicy story like this the town will pee itself and bring back santa asap to try and limit any bad publicity!

I formerly worked in an immigration removal centre, the people detained were obviously from a lot of different ethnic and religious groups.

Every major celebration from every major religion was noted an celebrated or marked appropriately with everyone invited to join in whether they were part of that religious group or not. It worked well, no one got offended and it was nice because there was always something to look forward to.

I think that approach would work so much better than cancelling things.

that is so shocking like some one else said i would be going to the papers its disgusting not being horrible to any other race or culture but this is BRITAIN we celebrate it we are BRITISH people who do celebrate xmas how would people feel in different cultures if we was in there country and they had to stop celebrating 1 of there beliefs or religions england is getting beyond a joke what about looking out and not offending us for once grrr xxx

Aly they are having a santa every Wednesday in the mall for 3 weeks starting 7th December.

when i asked in the mall they said that the council wouldnt let them have one and that was only the otehr day  i will be looking now as i hope they do have one :flower:
