Alright so I have been on 3 days of my high carb diet in preperation for my 3 hour glucose tolerance test tomorrow. I took my blood sugar at home right before starting my fasting time and it was 102.
I don't know what would be normal with this diet or whats normal in pregnancy at all lol kind of flaw for taking my own blood sugar if I don't know what to make of it.
Can someone give me some idea if this seems good then or if its not really going to be accurate because of the high carb diet I have been doing?

When I had my 3 hr GTT last week I was told to stick to my normal diet and to have a milky drink at 9.30 pm before I started the fast at 10pm. I dont think you should change anything in preperation for it, but thats just what I was told over here in the UK.
The average blood sugar in a healthy person is between 2 and 8, but dont let that panic you as maybe the test wasnt accurate due to cross contamination. If you are worried I would call your DR

the UK and US measure blood sugar differently. 102 is around 5.5, within the normal range for blood sugars if you haven't just had a meal.

I know it can be confusing, I have a friend in Texas who is diabetic and we compare all the time needing to convert back and forth. It's not totally accurate but it's roughly 5.5 - 100. Just thought it might help when trying to answer questions from either side of the Atlantic.

I have IDGD and they want my fasting blood sugars to be below 5.0 I wouldn't do anything strange to your diet....you either have it, or you don't. Let us know how you get on.
