katie's normally a really really happy booby baby. she loves goingon the boob and will feed for ages.

over the last week or so, she's been dead fussy at feeding time. she either wont latch and is screaming proper blood curdling screams, or she goes on and keeps coming off making moaning noises the whole time.

to me that said she wasnt gettin anythin, but she's still doin plenty of wees and apart from that is generally happy.

last night i got dead upset cos she just wouldnt feed. normally she feeds for a bit between 3.30ish and about 4 and then at 4.30 she has about 40mins of boob then some rice followed by a bit more boob.

she just wouldnt go on the boob tho, she was gettin dead upset andin turn i was. i made her up a bottle, incae she'd take that (she hates bottles) and she wouldnt, i managed to hand express a bit so i know i had some milk there.

it got to like 6pm and OH managed to get a bit of rice down her, but she just wasnt having it. she had some milk about 7.30 then went to bed. when we went to bed at 10 she woke up starving!!

why doesnt she want the boob?? its so not like her, she's become really fussy with it!!

Or have you had a change in your diet? Maybe something she doesn't like. There is loads of great info here on nursing strikes. So sorry to hear ya'll are having trouble hun. Hang in there, you can get through this.

I remember reading about something called a 'nursing strike' in the "What to Expect - The First Year" book. Look for it if you have the book or online.

I would also recomend that kellymom.com as I have found it very helpful.

Maybe you're trying to feed her more often then she needs, hence her fussiness? My little guy hated bottles when we first tried them until we figured out we were trying to give them to him when he wasn't yet hungry. As soon as we lengthened the time between feedings he took the bottle without any problem because he was actually hungry.

I agree with nellbellie... perhaps you are just offering it too much? At her age they will start having bigger, less frequent feeds... Especially if you feed rice cereal, it can make them want to cut milk if its fed too early (im all for feeding rice early, dont worry!)... Jasmine is only have 6-7 bottle feeds, I know bfing babies can have more feeds normally though.... just to give an idea.

thanks guys. i think it might be her teeth, i was readin that kellymom thing and there was a link to the LLL and it said it can hurt their gums when feedin. she's been fine today tho so i really dunno!!

Maybe she was just having an off day! Glad shes ok now x
