This is my first post. Just looking for a little support. We've been trying since January of 2014. I'm making a doc appointment tomorrow. I'm pretty nervous and not sure what to ask. I've been tracking ovulation for a few months but our schedules make timing things pretty difficult. My husband has been married before. They tried and never got pregnant. After they broke up she got pregnant like FAST with her now husband. I've been pregnant in the past but no baby. My husband is pretty nervous for the doc cuz he thinks they're just going to tell us it can't happen and it's his fault. I've read about a million different things about infertility but am still overwhelmed. Any advice on the doc visit or what they next step might be for us?

Are you going to see a RE? Thats what I have been seeing and they are helping me out a lot.

Just because his ex-wife got pregnant fast, does not mean that there is an issue with him. A lot of trying to conceive is timing and dumb luck. Even under the best circumstances, your chances of falling pregnant are around 20% each cycle. It also could of been that she had an issue and did some stuff to fix it.

Either way, even if there is something wrong on his end, it's not the end of the world and its fairly common and a RE will help you all with the next steps.

I'm not sure what you should ask since I don't know your whole TTC journey. But my guess is that they will most likely be doing blood tests and referring him for a sperm analysis if they don't do them there. They might also perform an ultrasound for you just to check that everything looks alright. If they don't offer to do those things, then I would ask for them.

I agree with bee that just because his ex got pg fast with her new partner does not mean its his fault. And so much of getting pg is down to luck and timing. During my journey to have my DS, me and DH went to see a FS. Initially they will probably do blood work on you. A blood test 7 days after ovulation, to see whether you are ovulating. And a blood test on cd3 to assess the quality of your eggs. Your OH will be asked to do a SA. We found out there was nothing wrong and we are actually both quite fertile but it still took us a while to conceive. I have been pg 3 times, unfortunately mc the first two at 6 weeks and my third pg resulted in my DS. The first time it took us 19 months to get our bfp, the second 11 months and finally 7 months to get the third. Si don't be disheartened if its not happening (which I know is easier said than done) it doesn't mean anything is wrong with either of you. Good luck!
