I am a staff nurse and in my first job since qualifying. I have recently applied for a new job, same position different location. And today I found out I've got an interview.

Do I wear smart clothes or my uniform. All other interviews I've had I've gone in a suit because I was still a student. But some of the girls at work mentioned that they've been to all their interviews in uniform.

What should I wear?

If it's not in your hospital, while you are on shift, wear non uniform. A suit shows you care about getting the job.

Why would you go in uniform, especially that of another hospital? Ideally, we shouldn't wear unforms outside of the hospital anyway.

Well this is why I never had before. It wouldn't even have crossed my mind to go in uniform until this conversation came up. To be honest I feel more comfortable going in non-uniform. Just wondered if I'd missed something. :haha:

Yeh I'd say non-uniform too, I think you'd only get away with it if you'd just finished a shift at the same trust.

Good luck with the interview! I've got to pull my finger out and start applying, not long til I'm fully fledged....so bloody scary though!

Thank you!

Ooh, when do you qualify? At least the job situation has got slightly better, when I finished there was nothing. It was horrible. And the NHS jobs site is so long winded!! :haha: Good luck with applying!

The only time i've gone in uniform was when I had an interview half way through my shift and for a ward i'd already worked on as part of my rotation. I agree with the other girls, go in a suit. What type of ward is it?

Definitely non uniform Hun, would only wear uniform if it was internal on the same ward as you are now and mid shift! Good luck xxxx
