HAs anyone experienced this? My 8month old cut his first two teeth about 3 weeks ago and is cutting his next ones at the moment.

The last day or so he's refused to breastfeed :(

My daughter went through this at 5 months but she would take a bottle so wasn't too bad as I pumped and only lasted a week or so.

DS wont take a bottle anymore and it's been a struggle to get anything in him using various containers (cup, beaker, egg cup, espresso cup!!)

Any advice?

TIA x

Think it is really common. No advice I'm afraid but you aren't alone!

Yes, to the extreme. My LO had six nursing strikes before she was six months old due to early and prolonged teething (and a tongue tie). She got her first tooth when she was 5 months and things improved after that. Around the same time, we got her tongue tie cut too. I know teething was to blame as well though as her gums used to bulge white during a strike and she would dribble like mad.

I used to dreamfeed her. That was the only way I could feed her. I'd take her out of bed multiple times a night and just try to get her to take as much as I could during the night until the strike passed. But it did happen many times, and it was awful.

I'm sure it will get better when his teeth break through. In the meantime, if he will eat solids, try to incorporate as much fluid as you can into his meals and give him plenty of fruit and vegetables with a high water content. You could even use a mesh feeder and fill it with something like chilled watermelon so he can have a good time chewing on that. Or you could freeze some breastmilk or juice into little ice lollies and see if he will take those. The cold should be soothing on his gums, if nothing else.

Hope by the time you read this he is happily back on the breast.

yep my daughter did this to around 9months.....i pumped and used a sippy cup but she wouldnt take much from it, but if they really want milk they will feed, just make sure he is eatting well.
