Nut allergies...and icecream

My five year old son ended up in hospital after wwe took him to the park for icecream at the weekend, and he had a severe allergic reaction. the icecream was topped with nuts. We are avoiding all nuts....but problem is EVERYTHING contains some trace it seems.

Doe sanyone have any experience dealing with this?

What type typeof nut would be on a whippy ice cream anyway?
