DS2 has suspected CMPI and has been put on Nutramigen after none of the reflux meds have helped

For those of you who's LOs have been switched to dairy free formula how soon did you see an improvement?

Within 24 hours but his symptoms were mucousy diarrhea with occasional blood so a more obvious change for us.

That was quick for you :)

DS has suffered with colic and awful reflux from birth, he had tongue tie that was snipped at 2 weeks old. He also has 5-6 dirty nappies a day which vary from slightly mucousy to watery, no blood tho.

I'm really hoping that this makes him feel better as he's such a happy little chap but you can see that he's not comfortable most of the time :(

My little boy was put on nutramigen for a suspected allergy two he had a toungue tie which was cut and also reflux and colic. His symptoms were more he colic etc he had mucsy poops but never bloody and just seemed generally unhappy all the time .
He was so much happier and poops improved after the switch X

Hope the switch works x

That's great to hear :)

It took a few weeks for us. Our dietician told us to give it 3 weeks as it takes time for the old milk to leave their system. My little boy was on Nutramigen for all of about 3 days before being moved on to Neocate. Nutramigen didn't agree with him and they think the reason was that it still contains cows milk protein, albeit broken down into tiny particles. I guess it depends on the extremity of the intolerance/allergy but we noticed a definite improvement once he was on the complete dairy free milk. He's been on it for a few months now and for the past 2 weeks or so, his reflux has pretty much disappeared- he's now 4 months old.

Be patient as the improvement may not be immediate but hopefully you'll see a change within a few weeks.

My daughter is on this, saw an improvement within 2/3 days. She had an enormous rash covering her whole face as well and this completely cleared up within 2 weeks but looked noticeably better after day 4.

We've now been on this for 2 days, he's still being sick straight after a feed but I think this could be due to going from anti reflux milk so I'm going to try and get some carobel thickener to add to the milk and see if this helps

We've gone from 5/6 dirty nappies a day to 1 which is a huge change!

I'm going to give it a little longer to see if the sickness calms down but early signs suggest that it's working :)

Just thought I'd pop back and update this thread

DS has been on Nutramigen for just over 2 weeks now, he struggled at first but saw a huge improvement once we added the carobel. We've had no vommiting and his dirty nappies have now settled down to a normal amount.

He's much happier in himself and has started sleeping much better, he even self settled off to sleep tonight!

I'm so lucky to have had a really supportive GP who's worked with us to find a solution to his reflux rather than just tell me it's normal.

That is excellent news! So happy to hear your update.
