I gave Lily some steamed chilled broccoli today (a large whole floret) and she had no interest in putting it anywhere near her mouth! This kid puts EVERYTHING else (non food stuff) in her mouth. Doh. She hates my home made carrot puree and barely ate the jarred sweet potatoes we gave her as well. All she likes is oatmeal. So bummed out. I guess I should just keep trying?
Getting discouraged, maybe she's not really ready?

My lo is the same way, plastic, electric cords, the blinds, toys and diapers? Straight in his mouth! Steamed broccoli, peaches, carrots, watermelon or yogurt? Won't even touch it. Let alone put it in his mouth he's slowly getting better though, as I offer things a second and third time he is at least tasting it now

Keep trying. We're doing BLW, and I was so sure my LO would eat right away because she puts everything else in her mouth. But alas, the first 5-7 days she pretty much just played with whatever I offered her. I kept at it and she finally decided to start putting food in or at least near her mouth. Now it's automatic. Just takes some patience.

Naomi didn't become interested in eating anything but green bean puree at 8.5 months. She just wasn't ready I assumed. Now, she will eat whatever I give her, whether its puree (our main choice of food) or finger food.

Update: Carrots puree from a jar (Earth's Best brand) went great today. She just hated the ones I made apparently, haha. Doh. She also is into rice cereal now. I steamed some whole carrots for her to play with tomorrow....now that she knows what they taste like mushed up, I am curious to see if she will get them into her mouth whole.

My boys have always loved oatmeal and maltomeal, and still to this day that is what they ask for for breakfast each morning. It's their favorite!

If you haven't tried maltomeal, I'd definitely try it! It's still mush, but it's variety! Haha.
