Hello everyone,

I was diagnosed on Boxing Day with OC after a fortnight of itching which got progressively worse. They've prescribed me ursodeoxychoric acid and told me to use a good moisturiser to relieve the itching, and I am waiting for an appointment to see the consultant to know more. I can just about deal with the itching during the day if I keep busy, but at night I get no relief. For the last few nights I've been getting a maximum of about 3 hours sleep. Anybody got any advice or tips to help me sleep at night? I will be phoning my midwife on Monday when I know she is back in, but until then I could really do with some help.

Thanks in advance :)

I had OC in my twin pregnancy. When the Urso Acid kicks in your itching should reduce, I was also prescribed Vitamin K to take. I put moisturser in the fridge also. x

Thanks, it's driving me crazy! How long does it take for the urso to kick in? I've been taking it now for 3 days and it doesn't seem to be doing anything yet. Will go put my moisturiser in the fridge now!!

If I remember rightly it took around a week. Not sure where you live but here in the UK at my hospital they induce you at 37 weeks if you have this condition.

Ahhh thank you, give it another 4 days or so and hopefully it might ease a bit then - fingers crossed!! I really don't want to have an induction but I can't imagine going another 9 weeks itching like this so I kind of hope they do induce me early. Thanks again for your help :)

Menthol athletic gel, for sports injuries. I would put it on every few hours at night, it was the only thing that worked!

I've just been diagnosed with this too but I was prescribed some cream not sure of the name as the pharmacy didn't have it in so I've gotta go back for it tomorrow.

The itching hasn't really affected me much till tosh. Tonight I feel I could rip my skin off :( I was also prescribed the same tablets as you and some piriton for the itching. X
