Enough is enough. Emma doesnt open her mouth anywhere near wide enough when I am trying to get her latched on, so my nipple isnt going into her mouth properly and so she is chomping down on the actual nipple.

Now some of the wee 'bud' bits are coming away :( and it is constant pain even when not feeding. I was sick when feeding her the other night due to the pain, and I break out in a cold sweat an tears at the thought of feeding her, so rather than give up all together, I am going to express for a few days and then use nipple shields.

I read a comment on Babycentre about someone who's baby was the same with the mouth opening, and that the shields made her open wider - so this might happen to, so finger crossed.

I have been trying peoples tips, I follow the 'guides' for latching on, hold etc etc, but her gob and my breast aren't that compatible, so we need intervention. And I don't care what my HV says! She said NOT to use a bottle or nipple shields and that it will hurt a bit. But Making me actually be sick is more than a bit!

I love the closeness of feeding her, and when she is cuddled up between OH and I when I feed her in bed (so that OH can comfort me when it hurts bad :( )

:hugs: I used Nipple shields with my 1st for a good few months i think it was cos he was tiny he couldnt latch on ...then i realised they wasnt sterlised when he needed a feed so tried him with out and he latched on straight away ...hope the pain goes soon x

I expressed off one boob for a few days as my nipple was blistered and I couldn't bear the thought of feeding off it.

Well done for sticking with it, I wholeheartedly admire your determination and hope it gets better for you.

I was the same and in the end my motivation came from not wanting the pain to all have been for nothing so I hung in there. For me it was worth it as I am now painfree. It took a lot to get there but boy is it rewarding when you do make it.

GOOD LUCK
