I have had this like little white piece of skin on the end of my nipple for a few weeks now. It looked kind of like a piece of dry skin but it wouldn't ever come off. Baby just detached from a long nursing session and I thought, eh, skin is probably soft and I can pull it off. So I did....

And there was like this Teeny hard white ball in there like the inside of a zit maybe, but hard. And now I have a hole! Like I can see down into my nipple. It burns.

What the heck just happened?!!!

Omg that sounds really terrifying. I have no clue what you could have done, but if I was in your situation I would be getting it checked out by a doctor.

It's like the teeniest little hole, so I'm not panicking just yet. Lol.

But what kind of doctor would even be the person to examine my nipple? Like a primary care doc? Or my ob? I don't even know. Lol

Update: could have originally been a milk blister maybe??? And then just kind of dried up on top?? Don't know if that can happen. It was just this teeny teeny tiny little white patch on the end of my nipple. I poked at it but didn't think it would pop. It just looked like a paper thin flap of extra skin. But I guess it wasn't extra since I exposed a fresh layer by peeling it off! Yikes!

It really does sound so painful, almost turns my stomach. I think you could probably see your OB or a primary care doc. Hard to say lol. I hope it was just a blister and that you did not damage your nipple :hugs:.

Sounds like a milk blister to me. Just suppose you need to keep an eye out for it getting infected or seal over again.

The EXACT same thing happened to me a few years ago when I was still breastfeeding DS1. Except I don't recall it burning.

This is sort of what I assumed. I had had really bad cracked nipples with DS1, was I wasn't entirely surprised when this happened as I had seen all sorts of nipple horror at that point  never got it checked out, and don't think there was any permanent damage.

Just a milk blister I think.. Quite common just make sure nothing gets sore/infected.. It ll be fine xx

I have a milk blister and it's still hanging on. I checked with my OB if I could pop it and they advised me not to. A lot of online forums said you can soften the skin and then nurse (like you) or pump to try and pull the dry milk out. I would check with you OB since it's not opened to see what you can put on it to heal it. Online said to use an antibiotic ointment but they may not be safe for baby. I'm wishing my would go away but doesn't seem to be doing any harm right now.

I think you guys are right! Just a milk blister. The "hole" from it has healed and everything seems alright now. It is just so reassuring to know this has happened to other people and is normal!
