OH's best friend 'stole' our name (may contain angry pregnant lady ranting)

I'm so mad. We went through thousands of names and even started a poll before we agreed on Theo (his name was originally Lincoln but OH changed his mind) and now his best friend has gone and announced their son's name on Facebook. I'm usually a calm person when it comes to things we can't help but I'm so pissed off, I wouldn't be surprised if there were smoke coming out of my ears right now. I'm done with trying to name this baby. So, round 3, here we go.

I really love Oscar but OH doesn't like it. I love Luca but OH has since changed his mind. I love Alfred but OH isn't keen.

I'm considering just hitting randomize on a naming website and going with whatever pops up first.

It's exhausting. I'm sure this is supposed to be the fun part. I'm 100% over it. There's no boy names that we both love and this baby is due in 3 months! Grr xxx

I don't see the problem calling your little boy Theo also. They are best friends after all and I suspect the boys will spend a lot of time together. They will probably also grow up being best friends and have that extra special bond when you have the same name as someone.

I remember my best friend in high school was another Amy although she spelt it Amie but that was fine.

They know we're not using Lincoln but as far as I know, they didn't know that we were using Theo. It's not their fault. I'd just had a stressful day and overreacted.

Neither of us like the idea of using the same name so we're just going to try to find something else

My MIL called her cat Zoe. That was the name we chose for Sophie. She did it on purpose .

Theodore has a lot of nicknames - maybe there's another variation you like? I'd be frustrated if someone close to us used our name choice, but I'm pretty sure I'd just be stubborn and go with it anyway

I'm sure it's a coincidence, but you happen to have picked up on two presidential names. Maybe look through a list of presidents and see if you get inspiration for a third

I would still use Theo. My brother and SIL are TTC and if they named their kid our names well then they would be cousins with the same name! Sorry!

Calvin and Chester and Franklin are all presidential names, as PP suggested I am fond of Lincoln, is that nixed off your list for good or is it something still considerable?

AFM, we decided on the name Kella before we even imagined getting pregnant. Two of my cousins are having children right around the same time I am, and they both wanted to name their girls Ella (if that's what they had). One of them had a girl and did use the name (the other had a boy named Owen), but we are still using Kella. It is a little frustrating when someone uses the name!

Just suggestions. From your list my top three favorites are Lincoln, Alfie and Leon.

Theo is such a good name! I'd be pissed too, at least initially.

I quite like Corbin! It's similar to Colby but OH didn't like that name.

OH is already asleep so won't know if it's made our list until the morning x
