ok so im VERY CONFUSED

if ive been given the correct information.. when i have my baby, i would be entitled to -:

child benefit £20 a week,
child tax credit £69.66 a week,
income support £128.60 a fortnight,
dat all amounts too AROUND £615.84

PLUS housing benefits which is maximum £500

i went to see my last employer and he has told me that i can return back to work after babys born.. but if i do i would have tu pay my full rent which will be £500 as i am planning on moving to a 2 bed room flat in a few months, plus council tax and bills


SO wouldnt i be better of not working :S

You will also get working tax credit an dhelp wityh childcare if you are working and will likely be better off financially. Not to mention the moral benefits.

You normaly better off working between 20-30 hours, and you will get various tax credits and child benifit. You should be better off working and your benifits go down when you lo is over 1 and then more at 4

oh i didnt no u stil get child benefits when working and childcare.. because my momused to may about £80 a week for my lil bros nursery fees

hey if you work you get
child tax credit
working tax credit (depends on your wage and need to work minimum 16 hours)
child benefit
childcare vouchers
your pay
and you get to keep full amount of child maintenence

depending on your wage you may also get help towards your rent, although you won't get the full amount paid.

you should go to entitledto.com and work out what is best for you.

im going back to work because i will be financially better off doing this and i also feel going to work will benefit me emotionally and give me a wee break.

If you go on the tax credits website, you can work out how much you will be entitled to if you put in your child's details, your earnings, hours you'll be working and how much child care you will be paying for how many hours per week.

You might also still get some housing benefit and council tax benefit.

In the long run you will be better working. Living off benefits you tend to live week by week, so wouldnt count it as however mch a month. because you get money weekly you tend to work it weekly. and once your providing for a baby its not a lot at all.

Im gonna get a job abour 20 hours a week as ill be much better off this way. you also will still get a proportion of your rent and council tax wil be at a deducted rate.

but hey, youve got a long time till your due, so i wouldnt worry just now. if you have a job my advice is just save as much as you can just now. u'll need it if you quit! (are you going to get maternity pay? as then u will be better off and can also get working tax credit)

I was working full time before going off on mat leave and the plan is to go back part time since I'll get tax credits which will make up a lot of the difference xx

I was working part time before getting pregnant and am currently getting
child benefit £20 a week, child tax credits £69.83 (something like that) and stautory maternity pay and when I move out will be entitled to full housing benefit (nearly 100% certain on that). When I go back to work I can either stay at 12hours and continue getting full housing benefit etc or can up my hours to 16 (if the hours are available) in which case I will get help with child care costs, working tax credits and some help with rent. Im just going to work it all out closer to the time of going back to work and depends on what my mums hours are like for minding LO or whether I will need to get him child minded etc.
