DH and I have been thinking of names since we're TTC in the next few months.

I noticed another user on here had a son named Oliver and I absolutely fell in love with it. I know it's a pretty common name in the UK but I have not heard it in the US, other than characters on TV and what not. The best middle name I thought of was James, but then when I googled it I came up with the actor who shares the same last name as well: Oliver James Hudson.

What do you all think of it?

I've always liked Oliver, and it goes very well with James :)

Thanks ladies!

DH and my mom weren't too keen on it, but I think DH is warming up to it. The more I think about it the more I see it fitting our little boy should we have one.

I love it but wouldn't use it due to its popularity here. But if it isn't common there then it's perfect!

To be sure, I looked it up online ad it says it's #73 on the US baby name list. That's not too bad....

Im trying to talk my hubby into Oliver James if its another boy........love it!!!!!

Awesome Taurus! I kept rubbing my belly last night (not pregnant but my potential baby is in there right?) and kept thinking Oliver was perfect for a little boy. DH had super curly hair when he was little that I think our kids will get, so I think Oliver goes with a curly haired little boy.

My sister just had a baby boy and named him Oliver. We call him Ollie for short. I think it's absolutely adorable.

I like Oliver, it's very cute! I'm in the US - i only know one person with this name... a 4 year old little boy. I'm not a fan of the nickname "Ollie" though, which is why i personally wouldn't use the name. I think Oliver James flows well but i wouldn't use that bc of the initals "OJ" (and the neg associations with OJ Simpson).

Oliver Michael
Oliver William
Oliver Christian
Oliver Elijah
Oliver Ryan

Really? DH and I liked Ollie. t just sounds like a cool kid name lol. And it's a skate board move.

Good call on the OJ though! I wouldn't have thought about that. Oliver Elijah has a nice ring to it.....

I like Oliver with nn Ollie

I don't know any kids with that name (US) but I think it'll get a bit more popular with all the girls names going the retro route around here. On a side note my friend named his daughter Lola Mae recently and I died of love.

That's neat - i didn't know "Ollie" is a skateboard move! I have always loved skater boys!! :winkwink:

Lola Mae?!?!?! That is so cute. I love it! I think you're right though, with all the Olivia's, Oliver has to be next.

It is Ruby. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ollie_(skateboarding), in case you really care :). DH pointed that one out and then he got excited about Oliver lol.

I like the name Oliver. Over here in the UK its a bread and butter name, ie very popular and most classes at school would have at least one oliver in! 3 of my friends have babies called Oliver and my nephew is Oliver James!

Popular names don't worry me, they're popular because they're nice! I say go for it, it's a lovely classic name x

I think I have DH convinced now so Oliver James it will be should we have a boy.
