Oliver Scott arrived 30th October at 8.26pm weighing 7 pounds 5 ounces!

He scared mommy and daddy with his heart rate dipping a few times and nearly had to be wheeled away for a c section, but luckily he was born very happy and healthy! Mommy needed stitches for a second degree tear, and iron levels dropped so low they wanted to give me a blood transfusion but have let me go with a high dose of iron and check ups to follow.

It wasn't a bad induction experience, I had the propess at 10.30pm on the 29th, my waters broke 6.30am the following morning after that contractions came fast 6-8 in a space of 10 minutes! (Which didn't help his heart rate!) I got wheeled to delivery at 3cm dilated so I could get pain relief and they weren't happy with his heart rate.

Monitored his heart the whole time and at one point I felt like I was going to faint and was out of it. Then heard the heart rate drop very low and apparently they had a team outside the room ready to wheel me to theatre if the heart rate didn't improve in a minute. After an injection to slow the contractions down the heart rate shot up and I felt more alert and awake again.

A while later I felt urges to push and my body even pushed against my will and I panicked a little again. They didn't check how dilated I was for a while but when they did they said 'oh he's got a lot of black hair!'

So an hour later (I didn't have proper pushing urges consistently for the first twenty minutes so only did smaller pushes) he was out!

I was amazed by the instant pain free feeling I got the second he popped out and was placed on my chest! My boyfriend was amazing throughout, very supportive, just held my hand which is all I wanted him to do, he didn't panic and I had no idea how bad it actually got until the other day when he told me about it all!

Incredibly tired, and sore but I'm so glad my baby boy is finally here and he arrived happy and healthy :)

Aww I am so glad he has arrived safe and sound!! Love the name by the way! We have Oliver picked if we have a boy!!

Nice But scary story. Thanks for sharing. U gonna share a pic of the cutie?

I'm glad everything turned out fine without needing a c section! I love the name Oliver it was on my husband and my list of top names. Also I think you mean October :) I went around telling people my son's birthday was a day after was for almost the first week!

Haha yes I mean October not December :P baby brain!!

I can't believe how that period of time blended into one and I get confused by what happened and when because I was so out of it. And I wouldn't even say it was the gas and air.. I think it was maybe my iron levels I felt really weird from.

The only funny moment on gas and air would be when I first got it. I tried it, tasted funny and I was like well this isn't what it's all cracked up to be! So I started breathing supppperrr deep through it to see if that was any better. And I found it wasn't great through the actual contraction and then I started to feel real weird as the contraction calmed down. And I turned to my boyfriend and said (very slurred) "everything's all blended together!" He said "even me?" I said "yep!" And started sucking the hell out of it again haha

Oh and I remember baby at one point was kicking my ribs through contractions. Which made me scream every time and squirm everywhere it was horrid. But then I remember during one contraction where I was PUSHING he did it again.. And this time I was going mental and telling him off and saying "whys he doing this to me?! Stop it!" Haha that was the most painful bit..

It was a little scary.. but they all kept pretty calm around me so I didn't really know what was happening. If Id have been more aware of what was happening I reckon I would have panicked super bad. But I'm surprised that it turned around nice and quick and the end with pushing was pretty normal and I didn't need lots of midwives and doctors in for that bit :)
