hi ladies

i am going to have planned C section around 38-39 weeks

What do u think could happen if i went into labour lets say week
37, would hospital then proceed with C section or would they make to deliver the babe naturally?
i am so scared that this will happen to me knowing my luck
i have to sepak to the doctors at some point, i am really scared..

Hi hi pun, it's hasn't happened to be but a friend of mine she was due to have her 3rd csection and 3 days before went into labour and hadn't really realise thought it was cramps from a stomach bug, she was 7cms dilated but they still did her csection it was just very rushed for obvious reasons, hope this helps :)

My Ovulation Chart

I am having my 1st c-section and it is scheduled for the 24th of Feb at 39 weeks and this was one of my biggest fears because I was induced early the first 2 pregnancies so who knows how long they would have gon and my last one i went into labor at 38 weeks so I have never made it to 39 weeks but after asking my dr she told me that they will continue on with the c-section as an Emergency c-section only considered "emergency" because I would not have a scheduled time that day

I am 38 + 2 and I am having a C-section regardless of when the baby comes, although I have a scheduled one for when I'm 40 + 6. My doctor said that there's no reason for me to have an emergency C-section unless there are complications.

It would depend on the reasons for a section, if there are no risks to you or baby they may just let you carry on, but it doesn't take long for them to get theatre ready and take you down for a section.

I would think it depends on the reason your having a section Hun x

They wouldn't "make" you deliver baby naturally. If you have a reason for a c-section then that reason is still going to be there regardless of if your in labour or not, only now it gets classed as an emergency. If you were recommend you could either choose vaginal birth and c-section earlier in the pregnancy they will likely offer that choice again. But if they only recommended c-section then they will recommend emergency c-section only.

However not all emergencies are the same. If you're in early labour and you and baby are fine, but down the corridor is a lady in labour is more advanced and her baby's heartbeat is dropping then that lady will be going to theatre first and the midwives will continue to care for you during labour. Sometimes labour is unpredictable, sometimes the number of patients on labour ward and the conditions they have are unpredictable, so you could end up labouring for longer than intended.

You would need to call the hospital as soon as you get labour symptoms and they'd still give you a section - it would just be "emergency" (as in not scheduled but wouldn't be rushed either).

If you laboured really quickly and were 10cm dilated on arrival at hospital they would normally tell you to carry on naturally as you'd be too far gone for section. That's rare though.

I am not allowed to go to 40 weeks so am having a section as don't want an induction. But I asked my doctor if I could choose to VBAC if I went into labour beforehand and was told I could if I wanted to.

Depends on your reasons for having a section. I know for me (prev section) they would've made me labour naturally if I happened to go into labour before.

Depending on the reason for your Csection, if they have an OR available and can prep before your would natural deliver. They could do the csection, or they may have you go ahead with labor. Its good to ask ur care provider.

I'm guessing it just depends on the reason as to why you're having a repeat c-section and how far progressed you are. I would imagine if you arrive at the hospital and are crowning, they're going to have you try and deliver naturally but if you're only in the beginning of labor I'd imagine they'd do a c-section then.

My little boy arrived a week before my section, i was progressing slowly and sporadically. I was given some morphine and told they would rather do my section in the morning (this was @ 5pm) but i was told if i kept progressing they would have to do the section. i was only asked once if i wanted to try naturally, i explained no and nothing else was said.
Put your reasons in your notes hun, even have something in there from your midwife. Be firm and explain your reasons.

I was booked in to have my c-section at 38 weeks with my DD. I ended up being rushed in with a placental abruption at 37 weeks and they took me down to theatre within half an hour of arrival. She was born safely by c-section. If you go in to labour, chances are they will class it as an emergency and have you have a c-section straight away.

My Dr said that if I go into labor before the c-section to call labor and delivery. let them know I'm coming. and that we were planning a c-section. She said they will just do a c-section when I get there
