Hi girls...

I've been put on to insulin now, tabs arent helping :(

And i've to go back next week for some sort of eye test, where
they will put in eye drops first to make my eyes blurry, then they
wanna look at the back of my eyes.

Seemingly insulin can affect your eyes & kidneys so they wanna
check both.

Just wondering anyone had this?
& are the drops those nippy ones?

I ask cos i have a phobia & HATE people near my eyes & as stupid
as it is am worried about getting the eye test, not the actual outcome

I've had them check my eyes before when I was 15, I think its just to make sure there is no pressure back there from glaucoma which can result from very high blood sugar. It shouldn't take too long for the affects to wear off, I wouldn't worry too much :hugs:

the eye test is nothing to worry about hun my 9 yr old has it every year as she is diabetic she said the drops feel wet ( well yes they would) and then its just like the thing when he looks in yr eyes with the machine except it checks the back of yr eyes and takes pics. its to check for damage from high blood sugar levels to yr retina its important but honestly it doesn't bother my 9 yr old shes a real coward usually too xx

Hi, i`m insulin dependent diabetic and have my eyes checked regularly - the insulin itself doesnt damage the eye or kidneys its just that pregnancy can trigger eye problems in diabetics or make pre-existing ones worse. , I last had mine done two weeks away, i too hate my eyes being touched but theyre liquid drops, they sting a little bit and then leave it twenty mins or so then like the other ladies said - just look in the back of your eye with the camera thing and take pictures, doesnt hurt at all cos other than the drops nothing touches your eye. They say not to drive for 4 hours after cos the drops can make your vision blurry but to be honest i barely noticed a difference. Good luck, hope this helps x

Thanks for the replies ladies, i feel better about this now :)
