so as it says guys my left boob doesnt really wanna give up the milk my right boob is fantastic and I can now pump a shed load outta that one, but hardly anything out of the other any ideas Ive tried massaging it putting a warm flannel, Ive also had to give a few formula feeds while I try and sort out this untamable boob of mine, as my right is making more to compainsate but its still not enough boohoo I have a crap boob!!!!!

My right boob was a bit rubbish, now it's better than my left. Get your little madam on there to do the job she was born to do! Maybe even try putting her on just as she wakes up. You need to keep her stimulating milk production.

Just noticed she's 5 days old, maybe your milk hasn't come through properly yet. Giving her formula won't help the situation.

Your milk might still be sorting itself out and you might find it improves on its own in the next couple of days. As Toria said, giving her formula won't help as your body will think she doesn't need any more milk than she's getting at the moment - best thing you can do is get her on there as much as possible. I never used to be able to pump much from my left but I know it produces enough because it definitely fills up ok! But I can get loads from my right - pumping isn't always a good indication of how much milk you have.

If she's feeding more from the other side it will start making enough if you keep using it and don't top her up with formula (if you want to exclusively breastfeed). Some mums do feed just on one side x

Completely agree with the advice you've been given - just wanted to add that my right side the whole time my son nursed was never as high a producer as the left. After a while he would only use the left (like after a year lol) Honestly my milk did not come in until day 5. I had only colustrum for him for the first 4 days. Day 4 was a nightmare as he was HUNGRY, but him constantly being on the boob helped I guess cause at day 5 it exploded!

it took ages before both sides would produce well when pumping for me. And your LO can always get way more out of the breast than you can with a pump.

babies tend to favor a side- mine favors the right too- so it makes alot more milk- i try to start her on the left more often- but as some others have noted- your only in this 5 days so far- your milk may not be completely in- so i would wade it out- but giving them formula when you think you have a low supply only makes your supply lower- it isnt the solution! :) just offer the breast more often to get the milk flowing. it means more work on your part but in the long run its worth it- kinda like pregnancy right? :)

Advice given is good:happydance:

Your milk will take a little while to establish, don't worry chick. Even when it is established, one boob always seems more generous than the other....this is completely normal. Try starting feeding baby 1st on the boob that doesn't "work" (as you word it:rofl:) a few times more than the other but still alternate every 3rd feed until it seems to "even up" a bit.

It really is early days so don't worry too much:hugs:. Wow, expressing already...I was knackered just feeding at this stage and waited till about 8wks before I had the energy to express too:blush:

I have a super-boob and a little leftie.

They used to be a matching pair. Now I'm just lopsided due to the differing milk productions. But baby doesnt mind. It's main course and desert.
