I'm obsessed with my LOs wet diapers. I'm constantly worrying she's not getting enough milk when breastfeeding and due to weight loss early in week one and my low milk supply we've had to supplement with formula.

Now my milk is a bit more abundant so trying to supplement less since she seems to be drinking a lot.

However between 12am and 6am she had no wet diapers. At 6 I breastfed her and after that her diaper was wet.

Should I be concerned?

I personally wouldn't be because I'm quite relaxed about things like that. If it was a whole day and not one wet diaper I would be. Just keep an eye on it and if your baby isn't getting a wet diaper at all when breastfeeding speak to your doctor.

Also how do you know it was dry did you feel it? Sometimes a line doesn't show up even if it is a bit wet but it could still be slightly damp xx

If they are back to being wet now, no I wouldn't be too worried. We had a lot of weight gain issues early on, so I do completely understand your worry. I think I would be concerned if they continued to be dry, but as you've had a wet one, I'd carry on as usual and not think too much of it. Just feed lots today and keep an eye on it. If it becomes a habit, it might be something to raise as a concern with your GP or HV, but as a one off, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Thank you both!! I am going to monitor them and hopeful everything goes okay. We are using cloth diapers and it is fairly easy to tell when they are wet - lol that's actually the worst part about cloth diapers.

Mine is now quite a bit older (almost 12 weeks) but I've noticed that we definitely need to change diapers much less over night...(thank goodness in some sense lol). And weight gain has been just fine. If concerned, a quick call to the midwife or pediatrician might calm any worries.

I ALWAYS used to worry about this! Even when my LO would feed loads through a growth spurt or whatever, she was never a very heavy wetter. Yet she would put on loads of weight, so she was obviously getting plenty. Her first two nappies of the day used to be pretty heavy but after that, not so much.

Fast forward to today - she's now 15.5 months and a bit of a camel ... she hardly seems to drink anything! She has around 3-5 wet ones a day, but they are never truly soaked. And the first two are still the wettest.

She's perfectly healthy, cries tears, has lovely smooth skin, isn't constipated etc. I've come to accept that this is just what is normal for her.

Oh, and we did once see a paediatrician for a different issue and she said at a minimum they would expect to see two wets a day. And 12 hours or more without one would signify a problem that needed to be addressed. :)

Sophie had cloth nappies as a baby...well still does, but that's another story, sigh...and she sometimes went up to 8 hours without peeing or pooing if she was asleep as an infant. No issues at all with weight gain, she was always chubby and packed it on (breastfed).

as long as there is at least one wet nappy in 12 hours its ok as long as the rest are wet throughout the day. if she goes 12 hours she needs seen straight away <3 this is the requirements for my son who has had bladder issues and has a kidney defect xx
