Only one period since birth

Hi everyone,

A little backstory:
My LO is now 8 months old and still breastfed.
When he was 6 months old I had a heavy bleed and cramps for 1 day (which I'm guessing was an ovulation bleed) and then 2 weeks later got my first period since being pregnant. Had never had an ovulation bleed before.
The next month i figured I would bleed again around 28 days later but nothing happened. When I was 2 weeks late I took a test which was negative. After another 2 weeks I had a tiny bleed, more like blood stained cm. So I thought maybe I had skipped a month and was having another ovulation bleed so guessed my period would come 2 weeks later.
However that never happened so now I haven't got a clue what is happening.

Has anyone experienced this? Had their first period and then not another for a few months? I know they can take time to come back regular but didn't expect to skip them all together and have random mid cycle bleeds.

Please help!

I had a period type bleed at 8weeks then did not get a period till about 14months - was breastfeeding still until 20months. Hope that helps

Aunt Flow does not really like lactating mothers BUT your uterus still "micro-contracts" with each let down. These little crampings of your uterus can cause a little bleed here and there. I am not saying it is impossible to ovulate while breastfeeding but it is common not to ovulate while breastfeeding so the bleed may have nothing to do with that at all. BUT it could be ovulating just your hormones are still too "off" from breastfeeding for AF to want a visit.

Thanks for the replies. Still no period so guess that 1 i had was just a one off until I stop breastfeeding. Its now been 72 days since my last period and I have had another 2 random days of spotting (not next to each other) and then nothing.
