I have deliberated long and hard over this one, and although I would love the names to be the opposite way around I just can't stand name shortening and really wouldn't want her to be Elle or Ellie!

So what do you think?

I like it, but I prefer it the other way round. If you don't want people to shorten it, why not just ask people not to shorten it?

I know  the only problem is I can't stop it when she starts school can I.... children will shorten things if they can...

I like it but also prefer it the other way round. Eleanor was on our list when I had my LO.

I worried people would shorten my daughters name Eloise to Ella / Ellie but only one person has so far and I corrected them and they haven't done it again lol but I am sure that will change when she goes to school.

I think it's lovely! I do think I'd prefer it the other way around though. My 9 year old is Daniel and we didn't want it shortened, and nobody has! Eleanor is so pretty.

I really like it!! Although, i have a friend with an Eleanor & they call her "Ellie" & i have to admit i love that!

I like but i prefer it the other way ... has a better ring to it

Just tell people not to shorten it

as for school, kids call each other all sorts lol

LOVE it!!! Soooo pretty!!!! XxX :flow:

its the opposite actually .... reception kids tend to call eachother by their complete full names (surnames and all!) I found this sooo bizarre when my son first started school :haha:

Obviously that changes as they get older XxX

I like Eleanor Rose. I think most of the time names get shortened before kids start school, and by the parents. I am Abigail, but my parents always called me Abbie. So the most confusing thing was going to school and having to correct people to call me Abbie not Abigail. I often wondered by they didn't just name be Abbie. But thankfully I like both names.

It's lovely. I do prefer it the other way, Eleanor is one of our names if this baby is a girl.

My daughter is Grace and when she started school the children called her Gracie and i don't like it. I told Grace to correct them because 'your name is Grace' and now they call her Grace. Children will correct themselves when told xx

Love Eleanor Rose - flows beautifully that way. I also wouldn't want it to be shortened, but I'd just tell people not to, I think. It's very pretty.
