Opinions on how long to wait before cleaning up after BD?

Hello all, I'm new to this site though I have been monitoring it as a guest for a while. I figured maybe it was time to sign up! I'm 24 years old, and have been TTC for about 4 years.

I have seen a doctor and was diagnosed with possible inovulation, and possible PCOS. I am overweight, but have been on a strict diet and excersize for about a month and a half. I just reached my 20lb goal, but im still pressing on.

I have always had extremely erratic and unpredictable periods. I was put on Metformin 1500mg, have been taking prenatals, and this month was my first dose of Clomid 50mg. We also just started to use Pre~Seed. I am on CD10, and me and DH have planned to BD every other day for two weeks until my bloodwork appointment, to avoid the need to buy ovulation tests for now.

My concern is how long to lay down after BD. I have read quite a few people usually BD at night and fall asleep, then shower in the morning. However, I have found if I wait all night to clean up I unfortunately am very likely to get a urinary tract infection! I have had quiet a few because of this on my journey (they are truely awful!!) So girls, whats your opinion on it?

how about getting a Softcups? You can shower right after and nothing leaks out. Should look into it After I discovered it, I no longer had that jealousy and the DH being able to do what he wants right after because I'm able to too. It's basically a cup that sits at the cervix with all of the sperm and sits there like a cup and you get run a marathon right after BD and nothing will leak out

I never looked into them, but I certainly will now! Its such a pain to worry about a UTI on top of everything else I have to worry about reguarding TTC. thank you for that valuable information!!

I usually prop bum up for 20 mins after dtd. I conceived my first in the morning and I got up for work about 10 mins after dtd. Nowadays to help things along I have started using a mooncup...a got it last week from boots....I suspect the soft cups are better as they sit closer to cervix but it stops stuff leaking out and I wear it during the days propping my legs up now and then to help gravity along especially before taking it out. They are funny little things and trying to retrieve them can prove quite difficult sometimes....thought I was going to have to call in some help earlier!!

thanks for the reply~! LOL I was actually kind of scared it would get stuck, I hope I don't have any problems with them! Sounds kind of uncomfortable to put it in but I'm willing to do anything for that BFP! I tried to prop myself up last night after BD but I just started using Pre-seed and I'm pretty sure it caused too much leakage, I believe I used too much. Tomorrow we will try again and I'm definitely going to look into the cups, the leaking is scary gross! lol

Yeah pre seed goes everywhere....IMO the recommended dose is too much ( for me at least) I use at least half of what they suggest. Id stick a teacup up there for the day if it got me pregnant! X

Lol I would as well! I tried using a third of the recomended amount and that felt about right. Found its not too shabby in the end. Accompanied it with a softcup last night after BD and it was great! I wad a little scared because the rim was so hard but I couldn't feel it at all. It was such a great suggestion. Thank you do much for the tip!
